Paulson chip racks question

I need to buy 6 racks for my Paulson Grand Victoria chips and I was wondering which of the Paulson racks I need?

What's the difference between the 3 types of racks?

Rescued's chip semi brag thread got me thinking that possibly someone ITK can give a quick review of some of the different chip racks out there(including Chipco and others) and maybe eneely can post a link on the FAQ page?

I know this is a CT question but I like hanging out over here in HP

Re: Paulson chip racks question

I have never used the Chipco racks but I have both the generic and the Paulson branded 66.7 racks. The Paulson racks are made a little bit better. They have thicker walls and a blue tint. Both will fit your Grand Vics nicely. Expect a little bit of wobble if you have the used chips.

Re: Paulson chip racks question

If you're as picky about your racks as I am, only genuine Paulson racks will do. I've had problems with some of the generic 66.7 mm racks where there is a very slight narrowing of the dividers at each end, which makes the end chips in each row sit just a little higher than the other 18 chips.

Like Palindrome, I don't have any Chipco racks and can't comment on them, but I understand that they are a little wider than 66.7 mm.

Re: Paulson chip racks question

Thanks Palindrome, if the reg and 66.7 racks will fit my Grand Vics which do you think are better? What's the difference between the two and the 43mm racks?

Total noob question so feel free to flame if necessary

I'm definately picky enough to want Paulson racks only for my Paulson chips

Also planning on getting some BCC T-molds for a hot stamped tourney set in August. Which racks would be best for those??

Me too abby99. I know it doesn't bother most people. For me the extra $1/rack is worth it. I've also noticed the raised chips on the ends of my generic racks.

Careful what you order. The regular generic racks are 67.7 mm wide. The measurement references the space in each row of the rack. A stack of Paulson chips will fit in 66.7 racks, either the generic version or the Paulson version.

43mm is in reference to the diameter of oversized Paulson chips. Some casinos use oversize chips for their high value chips as an added security measure. Standard chips are 39mm diameter.

That's what I thought about the 43mm racks but it's good to get confirmation

I have a couple of Chipco racks. I haven't measured with a micrometer (since I don't own one), but they appear to be 66.7mm based on the most accurate measurement I could do with a straight-edge.

A barrel of nearly-new Paulsons has a good bit of wiggle room in this rack, but not quiet enough to squeeze in an extra chip. My well-worn Empress chips easily fit 21 to a row.

Re: Paulson chip racks question

Has anyone here tried the PGI (Palm Gaming) casino racks? I understand that they are a pretty good fit for Paulsons, though some on CT have complained that they rock when stacked due to the PGI logo stamped on the underside.

Re: Paulson chip racks question

I remember reading that Chipco racks are 70mm wide, compared to Paulson racks at 66.7 mm.

My two racks of minty fresh BCC T-mold chips from 2008 are stored in genuine Paulson racks. They fit perfectly with no wiggle room. I mentioned the date just in case BCC has made changes in the past four years.

Re: Paulson chip racks question

Thanks everyone for the info. Since the conversation has turned to "which racks are best for which chips" I might as well ask about ASM chips as well. They seem a touch wider and thicker than Paulsons so I'd imagine they would fit in Paulson racks too or is it a little tight?

I think the mold will depend on the rack. My A mold chips were a bitch to find racks that fit them perfectly. I can find the name of the company if you want it when I get home.

Casino Discount Supplies racks fit the A-Mold ASM perfectly. I have some other cheap racks that were too loose and some Chipco ones that were way to tight. The racks from this place were made for the A-Mold ASMs. Check out the HPI thread or my Custom ASM thread to see pictures.

This will help when it's time to get my own ASM Horse heads.

Appreciated!
