Online Home Poker Company blog

Hello folks,

Back in this thread:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/24...-game-1110229/

I expressed a desire to develop an application to help people play home poker style poker online. I have decided to go ahead with the idea. I'm going to keep a blog out my experience setting this all up as well as random poker related articles and whatnot. Just thought you guys might be interested.

http://www.standoffsoftware.com/

I would really appreciate any feedback or comments or whatever, since I'm hoping some people here will use the site when it's finished. I hope this takes off as I am spending a lot of money developing it :-)

Thanks!

What differentiates this from Poker Stars Home Games? Not knocking your idea, just curious.

Re: Online Home Poker Company blog

Thanks for asking. There's quite a bit different.

PokerStars home games let you play PokersStars games and exclude people outside your group from playing with you. It also keeps track of standings among members. That's ALL it does. You can't change anything about the games or the tables. You don't have total control over blind levels or payout structure for tournaments (they give you a couple token options...) There are no additional options at the tables to make it more like a home game. You can't do anything in "Home Games" that you can't do in normal PokerStars. You still play the games they have available their way.

At Online Home Poker, you will be able to play almost any poker game and play it whatever way you want to play it. Want to play NL 7 card stud with the last card dealt up instead of down and the minimum bet doubling every single betting round? That would be a strange game... but you can do it!

Hope this clears things up.

Speaking of bugs, don't forget to sign up to enter the beta probably starting in April if you want to help me test it and work out the kinks. You can sign up on the site at the "Online Home Poker" page.
