Re: January 2012 Open Thread

Wow, we don't even have a date or location for the HP Meat-Up yet, and the smack-talk has already begun.

Re: January 2012 Open Thread

This smack talk has little to do with the Meet-up and more to do with our incessant need to feel better about ourselves by putting each other down.

Speaking of the HP Meetup. If CT were to win the bid, July is an awful month for me. I have 2 weddings on the West coast, a wedding anniversary, and our League's Prize Tournament.

Re: January 2012 Open Thread

I had a very full game last night with ten guys at one point. I even had a guy who works late show up after 1am. The game lasted until a little after 4am. The action was loose and furious but the good ship RUNGOOT came to port and I booked a 300BB win. I was fairly quiet early on with ten handed play forcing some manner of discipline.

One hand I picked up AK in the big blind. Action was raised in middle position and called five ways. I three bet and was four bet shoved on by the original raiser. The player in the cut off called for the rest of his stack and I was never folding getting 6 to 1. I was up against KK and JJ but I flopped two diamonds and spiked the river to rake a good sized pot.

We lost a couple of players and the game started to open up a bit more. I had the two biggest stacks on my left most of the night which made things a little hard on me. These particular players will call everything pre flop when they have big stacks so I had to change my hand selection and raise sizing a bit. We eventually got down to six handed and I went on a tear. I love playing short handed Omaha!

My last big hand of the night was playing Omaha8. I picked up KJJ7 in the small blind. The hand was straddled and it was called all the way around. I know, terrible call. Flop comes down T94. The very loose LAG to my left bets, it folds around to me and I call. The turn is the J giving me a beast of a hand. I bet full pot and the LAG calls. The river is the 4 and I bet almost full pot again into what I'm assuming is a made straight. He calls quickly and mucks in disgust saying that he had me the whole way.

Maybe we should get a thread going on the dates too.

Re: January 2012 Open Thread

Trying to find a couple more regs for a late night NL game. Got my work Christmas party tonight, which happens to be at the ballroom about 5 blocks from my place. Going to try and get some drunk co-workers over afterwards for a game. Figure I need 5 or 6 regs playing so the game is already going when we show up. Ship the RUNGOOT and the RECRUITGOOT.

I send it UPS Ground. Hopefully it gets there at the end of the route.

Just got done with 11 hours of poker. Tired to say the least. Run good in a the first 3 hours and was up around 100 big bets after scooping high/low in a couple multiway hands. Stack then was steady for the next 6 hours. Got to PlO8 and got quartered 3 hands in that rotation. Thankfully every time we had enough people in to make a buck or two each time. I also dodged a bullet when I folded the 2nd nut low on the turn to a pot bet and 3 callers. Turns out I had the best hand at the time. River bought in a 2 outer for 2 players who called with worse lows and hit the nuts.

Got to NL holdem and ran pretty pretty good. Had AA, KK both win decent pots. Had the second nut flush when another player held a lower one although I got repaid later when I turned a flush against his trips. Unfortunately the river brought a 4 flush board which he held and had to pay off.

My biggest hand of the night was the last one. I had K9 on the button. BB pops it to 10bb and we take a flop 5 handed. Flop KJK. BB checks, another player bets, I elected to call worried about being dominated and get 2 other callers. Turn brings the case K. Same player leads out and I raised it up Pfr calls cold. River bricks and he open shoved. Ship the 500 big bet pot.

Not putting a lot of detail up but I'm tired so.....yeah bed time.
