All of the home sets available that Amazon has available received complaints about the quality of the chips.

What set of chips can I order (a good amount) that aren't garbage but are high quality?

There are other threads where this is discussed at length, but the general answer is that you get what you pay for.

Custom clay chips can easily cost $2+ per chip. Custom ceramics can be had for less than a dollar.

Vintage casino chips range from less than a buck to over five dollars per chip.

Paulson home market chips have become hot and command prices well over $2/chip.

Midrange chips can be found for less, but I strongly recommend you get samples to help avoid being disappointed.

For that matter - samples are always wise if you aren't familiar with the chips.

For my money, the best buy is vintage casino chips. And as always, I can't post in a thread like this without some chip pron

Get Milanos from Claysmith Gaming. Recreational players will have difficulty distinguishing them from casino chips unless directly compared.

And if you're in the market for used casino chips, check the classifieds over at www.pokerchipforum.com. Lots of good guys over there who will help you [empty] out [your wallet]!

DrStrange - thanks, but I have no idea where to get the vintage casino chips.

ChicagoTroy - I didn't see your reply until after I put my order in. That site seems nice but they seem to conceal where they are manufactured.

I ended up ordering these 13.5g chips from Amazon in a 500 piece set and am content with them. They are pretty heavy and I've been using them to practice shuffling. They are made in China, though, so if you don't hear from me again it's likely because of trans-dermal lead poisoning.

Considering probably 75%+ of your apartment/house is stuff made in the third world, and that most all of your food is laced with poisons unless you're an organic foodie, I'm thinking that poker chips won't be the final straw. But don't eat them, no matter how drunk you get, just to be safe.

As someone who has (and most of my friends have) similar type chips, you're gonna love them. So be excited!
