Yes, the stickers are in a recess such that they are on there pretty securely. Since I got the samples a few weeks ago, I've had the stack of 12 on my desk, and I've been unable to resist shuffling them almost nonstop. I even work from home, so I'm at this desk for many, many hours per week. All 12 of the stickers are exactly as they were when I got the sample.

Speaking of which, I recommend getting the sample (for this or any chips you're considering). It's only a few bucks, and it's well worth getting that last bit of information before you make your decision.

The mint/desert heat chips are 13.5g slugged chips, meaning plastic and injection molded, therefore no "real" inlays. Only stickers/labels.

Only compression molded chips ala Paulson, ASM, and BCC can have true inlays.

Has anyone ever used the Eclipse chips? http://www.pokerchipmania.com/clay-p...s/14g-eclipse/

as well as the Yin Yang
http://www.discountpokershop.com/25p...-210.html#tab2
While I haven't used either if these, I'm fairly sure they're pretty generic slugged plastic chips. If that's the route you're going, just pick whichever is most visually appealing to you; they're all pretty much the same.

Breakdown looks good.

I agree. The Eclipse and Yin-Yang look to be the same chip, with a different sticker. There are hundreds of sticker designs using those chip blanks. They are at the bottom end of the scale, but if blob likes them, he should go for it.

Jim's are also injection molded, but they get a +1 for their more original design.

The latest Paulson chips at The Chip Room are from a casino in WA. The casino was open less than a year, so just a little wear and a lot less grime than the Par-A-Dice chips I bought that were on the table for 17 years.

$1 chips are .35, $5 chips are .39. They stand on edge unlike my poor red birds that fall right over!

I toyed with the notion of getting a set and using some brand new day blue roulette chips from the chip room. They are .50 each but would involve scrapping the hot stamps and relabeling. Of course they can be used as is. Not many of the roulettes left though.

For my Empress cash set, I just use dark blue roulettes as-is for quarters. They look just fine, and the only extra effort required is telling new players, "Blues are quarters."

Can you link that please? I can't seem to find them on the Chip Room website...

They've already sold out at CT

Jim does usually keep some in reserve to sell on his website and ebay.

I checked the ones and fives and the fives are gone. It seems that most of this doesn't get to the chip room website, but as mentioned, ebay sees a good share.

Thanks again Dug for starting this thread. Did you ever get your nickel chips?

I finally got a chance to use mine. I brought them to my weekly STT to see how they played and I won!

The table had black felt and combined with the low light the green and black chips didn't stand out. My table will be fine as well as amy ample lighting. What I do like is that the purple $500s are light and won't be mistaken for black.

I plan on getting some quarters and more whites for a cash set. I have a ton of reds. Also, I hope to get a few more blacks and some purples as well as a 1k chips for tournies. 5 and under for cash, 25 and over for tournies.

Everyone was very pleased with them.

Your welcome. I did get my blue non-denoms for nickles, but I don't use them cause we went to .25/.25

Congrats on breaking the new chip curse. I don't remember, did you also go with the Venerati's?

Yes, I did. I just assumed that everyone could read my mind in the above post. I guess my mind can only be read when I have quads!

I posted elsewhere on my good luck of finding used Veneratis, 2 times. The look is right up my alley. I hate gaudy things and these have a substantial look to me.

Thanks to this thread, I just ordered 1000 of the Venerati.

I already own 350 Nevada Jacks from a good deal on ebay but I wasn't 100% satisfied. I concluded that for the same price, people liked the Venerati better. I know people recommend to get samples first, but I don't think I will buy other types of chips anyway. In case I really really don't like the chips and all of you have a much different opinion on chips, I guess I will just resell them and stick to the NJs.

So since this thread is almost 3 years old, I was wondering whether you are still satisfied with your chips. My biggest concern was that some colors of the chips were hard to distinguish. Could you upload a photo of your blue non-denoms? Of course, feel free to upload the other chips, too

I was looking at this site http://www.apachepokerchips.com/paulsonhotstamp.html
they seem to have good prices.

I really like http://www.apachepokerchips.com/13gr...okerchips.html
and http://www.apachepokerchips.com/milano-poker-chips.html

I have friends who have those sets so I don't want the same ones. Can anyone recommend a quality chip with the clay feel that doesn't cost a fortune?

The company that makes the Milano chip (their most expensive one) makes a few other types: http://www.claysmithgaming.com. I own a set of The Mint and have been happy with it; my review should be easy to find in the HP forum. I can't speak for the rest of their line, but they offer samples of each style.

I've played with the Pharaoh's set a few times as well, and it has a nice feel and good look to it. Not for $0.38 or less per chip.

I'll second the Pharaoh's endorsement (I did buy them afterall). For a mid-range "clay Style" chip I don't think it gets much better. If I ever did decide to upgrade then it would be straight to Paulsons.

Just got a set of Milano's for Christmas. VERY impressed. They feel great, sound great, and stack really solid. I went with these over Pharaoh's because I prefer the color scheme and more muted inlay graphic. Super bargain for the price, imo.

The only "problem" would be that some chips (not many) have irregular spots/smudges/etc on the edge colors. Hardly noticeable, and unless you're totally OCD about it won't matter at all.

Congrats on the Milanos. I've heard good things about them.

These spots often appear in handmade compression molded chips too. It's just a by-product of the process, and IMO gives the chips character.

I ordered a set of a different/cheaper style from Claysmith a while ago, and they were happy to send me replacements for the handful of faulty chips I got (out of a set of 1,000).

Unfortunately, the order for the replacement chips got a little bungled on the shipping end, and I ended up getting only some of my replacement chips, plus three full sleeves of green Milanos that were of no use to me. But regardless of the error, they were very helpful and sent the replacements right away.

Nice spiral, and a great photo of it, as well. Claysmith should pay you to put that on their website next Christmas.

I like those chips, too.

Do you notice any difference in thickness between the different denoms? I may be wrong, but I thought they had an issue with that a while back. No big deal, if so, but I'm just curious.

Thanks. I'm off work this week and have nothing but time to stack chips.

The $0.25's and $1's are the same size, but the $5's are slightly thicker. A stack of 20 will be about a half a chip taller for the 5's. They still fit in the racks I have so I don't mind at all.
