Re: I'm tired of cheap chips, but I can't afford Paulsons...A Mid-Range Chip Tour
The chips look great, but come on, you could improve on some of those photos. You are not doing them justice. Either back up and zoom in, or use the camera's macro mode, which is usually indicated by a flower.
Sorry, I'm a photo nit.
The gold design on the edges looks somewhat Victorian to me. It gives them a vintage look that is very...well...nice.

Macro mode? Zoom in? You want me to use the flower??? Be glad the lens isn't half-covered by my thumb. A photographer, i am not...
Actually, one of my reg's is a semi-professional photographer. He didn't make it last night, but he's bringing his camera along on his next session. I just couldn't wait:P

I got an email reply yesterday from Sidepot, informing me that my blue NDV's that were to function as $.05 chips are on backorder for the next 5 weeks. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?
We played Thursday night with $.25/.25 blinds, and the difference was negligible. So, I think I will just have them send me more quarters and dollars in lieu of the nickles. If I ever again have a micro-micro stakes game, I'll just have an excuse to buy more chips! GG eneely!

Regarding oiling China Clays, I pinched this from Jofeljoh's post in another thead, as it applies to this one. Pretty noticable difference, imo.

Congrats on the set. Those chips look very nice. People will balk at the cost a good set of chips but they will really make your stand apart from others.

Are you in MN too? Somewhere around Rochester? Let me know if you are in Saint Paul sometime. I have two games a month, one on Wednesday and one on Friday.

Re: I'm tired of cheap chips, but I can't afford Paulsons...A Mid-Range Chip Tour
Very informative and well done OP.
About 7 years ago when I shopped around for some decent (but not super expensive) chips, I wound up choosing the 1003's from thepokerchipcompany.com. They have a great soft but heavy feel, real clay (inside). I preferred a less ornate, unlabeled chip and these still do it for me. Just FYI.

That's awesome. The Pharaoh's were a very close runner-up for me, and I am still hopeful that I will be able to upgrade my tourney set to these at some point (which would unfortunately compel me to run more tournaments).
Pics?

Does anyone anywhere to buy half way decent chips in person (NY, NJ, or PA), I'm hosting a game on Friday and I don't have time for shipping from sidepot unless I want to pay 100% of my order price for shipping, lol.
