Congrats on the set. Those chips look very nice. People will balk at the cost a good set of chips but they will really make your stand apart from others.

Are you in MN too? Somewhere around Rochester? Let me know if you are in Saint Paul sometime. I have two games a month, one on Wednesday and one on Friday.

Very informative and well done OP.
About 7 years ago when I shopped around for some decent (but not super expensive) chips, I wound up choosing the 1003's from thepokerchipcompany.com. They have a great soft but heavy feel, real clay (inside). I preferred a less ornate, unlabeled chip and these still do it for me. Just FYI.

That's awesome. The Pharaoh's were a very close runner-up for me, and I am still hopeful that I will be able to upgrade my tourney set to these at some point (which would unfortunately compel me to run more tournaments).

Pics?

Does anyone anywhere to buy half way decent chips in person (NY, NJ, or PA), I'm hosting a game on Friday and I don't have time for shipping from sidepot unless I want to pay 100% of my order price for shipping, lol.

I just got a sample set of venerati's. I love the texture, design, and overall feel. I really like these chips compared to my 11.5 slugged chips. I have seen some flaws I'm not fond of though. Namely the circle with the denomination is off center between 1/32"-1/16" on most of them. The $25 has a bit of smeared green through it, and the $1K has a mark thats looks like the mold didn' fill properly. But aside from the flaws these chips are very nice.
BriMc there was a pawn shop by Philly selling 1K 10g da vincis for $300. It was on craigslist.

I noticed that recently, too, but I failed to note that ITT. Last night, I noticed 2 chips, a $1 and a $5, that had very small chips on the edge. One I had in my shuffling stack, the other I noticed across the short way of the table. I seem to recall dropping a few the other night, so it"s likely from that. But, IMO I guess that's what you get with ceramic vs concrete.

98% of the time, no one else will notice the slight flaws. I haven't looked that closely, but I would be willing to bet every chip in this category exhibits similar inconsistancies. The bang for the buck is what you're getting here; for perfection, look at >$1 per chip (and I'll bet you can find a couple flaws in that set, too).

As a note, be warned that it appears the compression Dunes chips only fit 19 in a standard rack. Here is a link to a thread where this is discussed: Chip Semi-brag, post #38+.

Warning! I ordered a chip sample from sidepot of Veneratis. They took my $ but never sent me the chips! Many emails and phone calls. 3 months later... NO CHIPS!

Ordered 2 sets of Nexgen Pro classics through American Gaming Supply. Got em in a few days. Theyre great and comparable to Paulsons in weight size and feel despite being plastic. Good option to save $.

I have heard that Sidepot can take their sweet time (they didn't with me over 3 orders), but that's the first I've heard of them not delivering period. Note taken, we'll see if this ever comes up again.

I can't agree with Nexgen Pro's being anywhere comparable to Paulsons, but they are for sure a great value for a low-end chip.

I didn't read all the posts in this thread but obviously you know of thechiproom.com as you linked the site, hopefully you know of chiptalk.net. If you do then you SHOULD know thechiproom does sales of paulsons on chiptalk and you can get used paulsons at under .50/chip.

^^ I never considered used casino chips for myself, and I'm not a huge fan of chiptalk, mainly due to the mass disorganization of the site. By all means, feel free to add a review of your own to this thread.

Agree 100% about the CT chaos. That is why I check the marketplace and nothing else. Makes my brain hurt, otherwise.

CT is indeed a mess but the Marketplace is simple enough and the deals on Used Paulsons are fantastic....... I actually prefer a nicely used Paulson to a new one

I just spent some time browsing (or attempting to, anyway ) the CT marketplace.

I agree there are some fantastic deals to be had, especially for the used casino chips. However, the problem I have with a majority of these deals is that it is hard to find matched sets, especially if your game uses chips <$1. My game runs between $.25/.25 and $.5/1, and none of the offered chips included a $.25 chip. Yeah, I could buy chips from different casino for my quarters and my ones/fives, but my OCD wouldn't let this happen.

If you are running a $1/2 or bigger game, then I would imagine that used Paulsons would be the way to go. But for us micro guys, well, I anyway prefer a matched set in the denom's I use.

Yes if you need quarters it is difficult but you can get the Hotstamped Roulettes in a color that matches your set and label them as you please, many have done this with great results

if you don't need the fractionals the deals are insane

I picked up 700 used empresses for 200$ and have a very nice 1/2 set
