Doh! You ordered before I could talk you into .25/.25 blinds, or a single .25 blind, and having the dealer pay the ante for the table, rounded to the nearest .25.

Nice pick up, you will really enjoying playing with those. Pretty smart move from the beginning getting samples. Next time I'm up in your area I need to stop by for a game.

Well, technically they are all injection molded, but there are important differences.

Most cheap chips are made using standard injection molding. Chips like the Veneratis are called "ceramic," but really they're injection molded using some sort of material that looks and feels like ceramic. China clays are made using high-pressure injection molding - some call it "injectocompression" - which gives a look and feel that is closer to a true compression-molded chip but not identical.

I'm no expert, but I think they use multishot injection molding. It's a process that allows you to use multiple materials to create a single injection molded piece. There are several videos on YouTube that will give you an idea of how it works.

still fundamentally injection molding. the equipment is fully automated and runs on a continuous-feed hopper. compression molding requires an operator to fill individual cups and assemble chips essentially by hand, and works at magnitudes-greater pressures.

The way compressions are assembled, you could put a shoelace in there and it would become part of the chip. Everything in a china clay has to squirt through a nozzle.

The most obvious difference, therefore, is that china clays must have an adhesive label, whereas a compression chip has an inlay stamped into the chip itself.

Finally got my Pharaoh's today... Customs clearing can be a bitch

I'm in love already and it's probably my last purchase, unless in the far future I can find, afford and mentally justify a nice paulson set (preferrably also Pharaoh's or Noirs). But that probably won't ever happen

Anyway, very happy with these, they feel great, the weight, stack well, sound great. 2 of the 600 chips didn't survive the trip to the Netherlands (thank god I ordered a few spare chips per denom). Going to get some mineral oil and give these babies a wash. Colors are a bit dull but I'm sure the oil will bring the colors out beautifully.

Can'twait to play with them. I'll post some pics later when I have some daylight

TR: Everybody raved about the chips all night. They absolutely loved them. The chips themselves played very well. Shuffling, chip tricks, everything we could ask for. Got a stack of 100 to stand up well, probably could have gone higher but my table is a tad wobbley. Unfortunately, the chips seemed to hate me as much as the cards did, because I didn't see either of them all night long!

Definitely worth every penny I spent on them, and I would recommend the Venerati's to anyone looking for a quality, value-priced chipset.

The chips look great, but come on, you could improve on some of those photos. You are not doing them justice. Either back up and zoom in, or use the camera's macro mode, which is usually indicated by a flower.

Sorry, I'm a photo nit.

The gold design on the edges looks somewhat Victorian to me. It gives them a vintage look that is very...well...nice.

Macro mode? Zoom in? You want me to use the flower??? Be glad the lens isn't half-covered by my thumb. A photographer, i am not...

Actually, one of my reg's is a semi-professional photographer. He didn't make it last night, but he's bringing his camera along on his next session. I just couldn't wait:P

I got an email reply yesterday from Sidepot, informing me that my blue NDV's that were to function as $.05 chips are on backorder for the next 5 weeks. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?

We played Thursday night with $.25/.25 blinds, and the difference was negligible. So, I think I will just have them send me more quarters and dollars in lieu of the nickles. If I ever again have a micro-micro stakes game, I'll just have an excuse to buy more chips! GG eneely!

Regarding oiling China Clays, I pinched this from Jofeljoh's post in another thead, as it applies to this one. Pretty noticable difference, imo.
