This is the only part of the plan I don't like. That guy tilts me so f-ing hard.

Well I'd only play if he played at my stakes. I'd happily lose a buy-in or two to him to have the story. And if I won I'd definitely have some of his best lines ready to throw in his face, though I doubt it would bother him much if I took $40 off him and said "I'm going to take everyfing you have!"

Okay, that I can go along with. I'd love to win $25 off the guy and rub it in his face all night like I'd taken enough from him to pay off my mortgage.

Love the idea and best of luck to you! If this becomes a reality, let me know and I'll save you a seat and make sure you have a place to shower and rest.

A few thoughts:

1. Plan the trip for September/October, so there is minimal risk of temperatures above 90F or snow.
2. I suggest keeping close to US 20 for the beginning of your trip, perhaps until you get to Illinois. You are welcome at my low-stakes mixed cash game east of Cleveland.
3. Reconsider the family in the RV if at all possible. Your family will easily take up half of your time and attention. And, it just doesn't seem to fit in with the spirit or romanticism of the trip. If I'm reading your book, that aspect really takes away from the adventure.

In theory I'm with you. In practice, this trip (or my marriage) doesn't happen if I leave my wife with three young kids for a month and a half.

Yeah, I can see why this is a dream at this stage. The rewards and the trials of having kids are both very high.

Maybe you should keep this as a dream for a few years, then do it right, with a book deal and a movie option to fund your adventure.

I'm thinking that next summer might be a good time for a 2-3 day trial run in the New England area ...

This would be more understandable in the Doyle Brunson era... I do like the whole excercise + cross country poker idea though. GL!!

Great idea. It would be great if you could arrange to play in a poker game every night. Or even two per night! Call it the Hit and Ride Tour.

You could possibly write about this too and submit it to magazines and book publishers. Might secure some future financing for you

And people think I'm crazy ...

A friend of mine from college has just set out on a bike tour of pretty much all of the Americas with her husband.

She won't be playing poker, but still, this is insane.

Well I think you actually are a bit crazy for considering this trip, BUT that certainly doesn't make it a totally BAD idea either. What kind of games and stakes are you considering anyway? I would invite you to ours after I had read several reviews of you at other games from some of the usual suspects on this forum. This is a kinda interesting concept

Cycling and playing cards does not make you crazy. That said, good luck to you.

You are more than welcome to play in our game just southeast of Cleveland... It sounds like there is another Clevelander on here. I'm wondering if it would make sense to go from one metro to another over different weekends. For example, see if there are two in Rochester for the weekend.... then find a game for Buffalo or Pittsburgh for the next weekend... then Cleveland the next... etc. etc. You would have to get players from adjacent metros (Columbus, Detriot, whatever to come to a game when you were close to each Metro. There's enough people from Cleveland on there that you could play in a different game ever night for a week, but you wouldn't get too many miles....

What an awesome idea! Good luck with it and I hope it gets off the ground for you. I can hook you up with a game once you get to the Denver area.
