how to run a home cash game payouts?
so my buddies and I do home games once a week or so, throw in some money for a decent prize pool and play an 8-10 man sit N go for winner take all + 2nd buyin back and its fun, but people want to change it up so I'm thinking of doing cash games instead.
The only problem I see with this is that everyone always pays in 5s 10s and 20s and if thats the case, how do you cash someone out who finishes a 5c/10c game with $13.56 for example?
make a change pool out of everyones loose games? thats the only thing I can think of, what do you regular cash home game guys do? because some of my guys are dutch and not to stereo type, but are honestly too cheap to contribute.
suggestions?

Re: how to run a home cash game payouts?
I host and play in similar home games to the stakes you're playing (we play .10/.20 for a $10 initial buy-in and usually rebuys are $20 for most of us but $10 for some others, or whatever between $5 and $15 they have in their wallet). Micro-est of the micro for home poker but that's the situation you and I are in.
I always try to have several $1s in my wallet when I play in this game (easy because I usually stop for some food / drinks on the way so I just get my change in singles). We will usually chip-race to the nearest dollar or just draw a high-card.
In these games, as you know, you are not playing for profit as a 6-pack of beer or splitting for pizza wipes out any kind of "bb/hour" winrate....Nobody there will nit about cashing out $17 instead of $18 when they had $17.40 in their stack and the other guy cashing out had $xx.60 and they drew high-cards.
Most of the time in these kinds of games usually there's 2 players left with all the chips at 2 AM anyway, and are pretty happy to cash out with 50-60 dollars (everyone else busts...they don't really "Cash out" when they have $4 in front of them, they shove when they're ready to go home), and these pennies/quarters don't matter.
Now that I've bought several hundred cash-game chips with denoms down to 5c on them, I might just be nitty enough to get some rolls of nickels, dimes, and quarters from the bank and run the game too legit to quit.
edit: I do agree that people buying in with just $10s and $20s does make some situations tricky ($5 or thereabouts doesn't feel "insignificant" to most of the people in the game, or they would be playing higher stakes) and want to reiterate that it is usually resolved if just one concerned player, such as yourself, cares enough to make his first buyin with singles (or 5s and singles), maybe a couple extra in your wallet. It's the people who show up with a single $10 bill in their wallet for these games which make the cash-outs complicated.

Re: how to run a home cash game payouts?
I run a $0.25/$0.50 game where people buy in between $40 and $200. I honor all cashouts, rounded to the nearest dollar. Since I'm a permanent host/dealer, I make sure to have a good $50 or so in $1/$5/$10s hanging out at all times. I "buy in" with my big wad of small bills, take that exact amount in chips and pocket them, then play the game out and cash everyone out normally. I then "cash out" what's in my pocket and any excess is tip money.
It's customary for people to tip anything over $1 and between $2 to me on a cashout, which facilitates things nicely. Also, on weeks where I forget to stash up on small bills, I simply ask for my regs to buy in with as much in small change as they have to facilitate the cashout process. They usually oblige.
A nifty trick that has worked wonders in my home game, btw: when a player cashes out, have them count their chip stack and NOT TELL YOU the total. As a host, you independently count the exact same chipstack. If your numbers match, the stack is right. You'll end up the night with essentially exactly what you're supposed to have, even with rounding. It works well.
EDIT: if you buy a $10 block of quarters from your bank, this same thing could work rounded down to 25¢ units. If they bitch about being shorted 10¢, though, then **** them, haha.

Make the change at first, start charging a very small rake, then every few hours color up the rake change into bills and put the change back into play

Don't rape your friends. I mean, don't rake your friends. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rounding to the nearest quarter seems like the best solution for your game. Before the game, go to the bank/grocery store and exchange $50 or so for some smaller bills and coins. Then you're ready to cash guys out for $13.25.
As for the blinds, I think you should go with either $0.25-0.25 or just one $0.25 blind instead of $0.05-0.10. It makes it so you can have fewer chip colors on the table.

Re: how to run a home cash game payouts?
My own home cash game for 6 years every Friday (used to be less frequent and had tournaments at first) .25-.50, BI from $1 lol to $40 with reloads in $10s and $20s as desired! IDK what your problem is with the money, no offense, but just get some change for your "bank" say $5 in pennies, nickles, dimes and Qtrs and your own BI in ones. Trade out as needed each session! Am I missing some factor that would make that more difficult? I have missed stuff before LOL

Re: how to run a home cash game payouts?
I personally don't see the point of having 1 cent/5 cent/10 cent chips in a home game..
But if you are going to then make sure you have change before the game like someone else suggested
-DONT RAKE UR FRIENDS esp in such a small stakes game lol

Re: how to run a home cash game payouts?
At our little bragging rights game, we round up or down to the nearest dollar, and the host cashes last. Every once in a blue moon it means the host loses a buck, but it evens out. If your friends want exact cash outs, just keep some change on hand for the purpose. And no offence taken to the "Dutch" comment . . . I am of Dutch descent, and often tell my frineds that Dutch are the only people who could buy from the Scots, sell to the Jews and STILL turn a profit.

I agree with going to the bank and getting change. If you want to host, you should consider that you are the "casino", and I don't know any casino that isn't prepared for changing chips into cash.

This is what I do.
I round the odd quarters up or down, but most players just tell me to keep the extra $.50 so I usually end up with a couple bucks in tips. Even in a .05/.10 game, there shouldn't be a need to cash out to exact change. If people are upset at not getting exactly $12.65, enact a policy of placing all the extra change in the middle and racing for it.
