A few of my latest builds...

Hi guys. Long time no threads. Been an absolutely cluster**** of a few months. Finally finished an order for a 2+2 member, as well as got a few others done in the mean time. I have 3 new builds coming up so more to follow. A couple of these were taken with crappy old iPhone cameras so.... fwiw. Enjoy.

These all look very nice. Great work! I really like the table with the wood rail in pictures 10-14.

Re: A few of my latest builds...

frickin beautiful. Your craps felt in those two pictures reminded me of an idea I had.

A normal oval table could easily be a poker table/bj table/craps table/roulette table;
for craps: an insert could be made that is a back wall to throw the dice against. The wall would fit inside the rail with pegs that fill in, and go into, the cup holders.

for roulette: same thing, a wheel that fills in one end of the table, with pegs fitting into the cup holders.

both of them would have a felt similar to what is pictured.

these would work best with an oval table, with racetrack, and raised rail.

edit: also, where do you get the "buttons" that go around the edges?

Thanks for the kind words. The "buttons" are decorative nails. They come in about 20 different sizes, shapes and colors. You can order them online or get them from local fabric places.

I love the oval. We always talk about how to build a table but never talk about the staining process.(curious b/c I am about to refinish a regular table.

Thanks

Were you asking as in wanting to get some pointers? Do you need to sand and refinish some existing wood? Racetrack, peds, etc?

Re: A few of my latest builds...

I know the steps but curious as to what brand stain, poly(satin or semi-gloss) and what particular color is the stain on the last table?

The last table stain color is actually a mix between two colors. I experimented with Rustoleum on a previous build and had decent results, so I mixed two colors, black cherry and kona. He had wanted a dark tint with just a touch of red. I use minwax water based stains when I need it to dry really quick. They also have a very high selection of colors. I like it the best for finishing and a clean job. For poly, I use minwax semi gloss, and I've also started to use Rustoleum spray poly. It's got great coverage, easy to apply and the finish has come out great. This is what I used on the last table in this post. I've kinda gotten away from the wipe on polys in recent builds just for speed and ease of use. Hope that info helps..
