Farewell, PokerStars "Home" Game! Farewell, PokerStars "Home" Game!

I'm sure those of you who've attended lately have noticed the extremely thin turnout at the Monday night games. I'd say "lately," but it hasn't just been lately. It's been for the better part of a year now.

On top of that, PokerStars radically changed its play-money poker structure about a week ago. It now costs a minimum of 20K in play chips per tournament instead of 1.1 chips. I guess they want to monetize the play money instead of offering it as a free side game, and this is part of their approach.

You can collect 12.5K free chips every 4 hours, but that means you'd have to log in and collect 4 times every week to collect the 40K to play both Monday night events (and I don't even know if they let you stockpile). Or you can pay US$5 for a million play chips, which would be silly for a zero-stakes game. It's already been a challenge just to get a game together that's more than heads-up. This is the final nail in the coffin.

I've had a blast playing every poker variant under the sun with you guys (and at least one female sea creature) over the years. It has improved my game a lot and introduced me to a lot of interesting people.

Alas, all good things must come to an end. I hope to see you all again at the table someday, but until then, good luck!

This game has been running continuously for almost 6 years. I first started it in January 2011, and we've had very few game runners in that time. Jim has been the man for, I don't know, how many years Jim?

Many thanks to Jim for doing this work for so long. You've been a diligent and consistent host, and as we know here in this forum, that is essential for a successful home game.

I'm going to ask the admins to close and unstick the thread for this game. But I'll leave the PS home game as is until they may decide to close it for inactivity. Who knows? Maybe they'll make another change and we'll decide to reactivate it here.

At any rate, the game has had it's ups and downs. So things go. I recall the games when we had multiple full tables, we had a google hangout going to give it a more live feel. Once, someone's girlfriend came into view and gave us a little show, which was much appreciated by all. Memories.

RIP, 2+2 PS Home Game.

i only played one time, but as a irl home game host, I want to say thank you for doing this for so long. I know hosting can be a pain, and I always loved the idea of the 2+2 home game home game, even if I didn't get into it much at all.
