I just finished building myself a custom table and at the end of the build I realized how much fun it was to do. So I figured I'd come here and post some pictures to show it off. Hope you guys enjoy it

So here is the finished table with blue cup holders

Silver cup holders

Lights off, LEDs on

And a little behind the scenes

That is one awesome looking table. Nice job.

I am also in the process of building my 1st table but nothing compared to what you did.

As we speak, on my way back to Home Depot to get another 8x4 of 1/2. Inch birch because I cut the first wrong to wrong size. Chalked it up beginners error.

Hope you get many goods games on that table.

That is a clean dope looking poker table. Would enjoy playing some hands on that. Cheers

over the top.

looks like you have matching lighting under the table to cast a coordinated glow -- or cutouts under the rail to vent the light down? ****in A, either way.

Looks like you stapled the playing surface foam. Did you also use some sort of glue? If no glue, is there any problems with the foam "rolling up" as you slide things across the playing surface? Just curious as I'm planning a build of my own and am looking for pros and cons of your method. Thanks.

Great table. Looks solid.

I was also struck by the under-table lighting. I don't know if you can see it when you are sitting at the table, but the effect it has when you are walking up to play is worth the effort.

Since you enjoyed making it, you should make more. I'll bet you could start a side business and advertise them on Craigslist.

Thanks for the compliment! You have to post some pictures of yours when you finish. I just had my first game on it tonight and everyone loved it, the dealer said it was the nicest table shes ever dealt on - even though it has no dealer cutout, turns out the rail is comfortable for the dealer to rest on as well.

You're absolutely right, it was a minor detail that I'm not sure anyone who played a game on the table tonight even realized. I have a second LED strip on the underside of the table facing the ground - it's connected to the main LED strip in the rail so it's always coordinated

I used a light spray of 3M #77 to hold the foam in place and then stapled around the edges to secure it permanently, then I stapled the felt on the bottom side of the table. I could have completely avoiding stapling the foam by putting the felt on after securing the foam with the spray, then stapling the felt where I stapled the foam. But I didn't want to staple my felt on the top of the table.

Thanks, I'm really glad I'm not the only one who feels that way! It is very hard to notice while you are sitting at the table with the LEDs on and the lights on. But when the lights are off, or when you are walking to the table it is easily noticed. I also mounted a powerstrip on the backside of the pedestal so that everyone can charge their phones and tablets.

An LED strip from China that I found on Ebay, I'll try to find the exact one if you want me to.

Looks good, is this your first build? Is it the cloth or is there a fairly big gap in between the "track" and playing surface? It looks like they're both covered in cloth but I can't tell from the photos. As noted already, you don't need to staple foam if it's been laid down with spray adhesive, that's pretty much overkill. An easier way is to lightly haze the foam on top, then place your cloth and staple at the edges of the plying surface, where the staples are hidden. Saves a lot of time.

I had to read your question a few times to get what you were asking, but yeah its just one peice of custom cloth. So there is definitely no gap

Not the biggest fan of tables that have raised rails like that, but the table turned out great! Is that a custom table felt?

I had to squint real hard as well to try to figure out if that was a wood racetrack or not, but then clicking on the image for the bigger photobucket image it was clear that it was just a custom cloth with a black betting line.

Yup it's custom felt, also it's the single most expensive peice of the whole table. I had my heart set on it from the moment I saw it, so I would still be kicking myself if I had gone with anything else lol. And I know how you feel because I wasn't a big fan of raised rails either, but I just went for it and I love it.

I am just about finished with my first poker, aka "crooked". First time using a jigsaw.

After seeing your table, I've concluded that my next build will be a raised rail. No lights though, too advanced for me. I think a raised rail looks great but not too raised to the point where your arms and hands look and feel awkward when trying to look at your cards.
