Bugged Hold'em? Bugged Hold'em?

I don't think it is contradictory. In the straight, it is a generic King (with no suit, because suits don't matter when making a straight). In the flush, it is a generic heart (or whichever, with no rank, because ranks don't matter to make a flush).

I always assumed that in California high draw with the bug, it could be used for the high card of a straight.

Chop the pot in my (hypothetical) game. Bug plays to make the best hand for each player.
I think so too.

Not for me (us in our long running private game). The same (fundamental and simple) principle applies: "The bug plays to make the best hand possible for each player." Except the bug can only be used for lows, straights, flushes, and aces.

At least for some of the posters here.
That seems true.

So the bug can't be used to make a straight flush? That would require it to be both ranked and suited.

I don't see anything wrong with it playing unranked in a flush. I'm interested in knowing if there are any differences in how people use it in other hands.

Sure, it can be used to make a straight flush. Also not contradictory. For a straight flush, both suits and ranks are necessary to be specific (unlike straights on flushes).

I still am curious about what the actual rules are of the bug in high draw. Couldn't find it easily online. Pretty sure it is in the original Super System book if anyone has that handy.

When the bug is the best card not already on your hand, it does make a straight flush.
