Regardless of the number of players, you can play free for 30 minute sessions, with a 5 minute break between each session. There is a timer that counts down the time, and can be paused.

I don't know how long I would have to expect to play to pay the $5. So far, I think I've only played HU for an hour (2 breaks) or so. If I knew we were going to play for 2+hrs with it, I'd be more inclined to pay. Unfortunately, HU NL is a couple hands away from being over. The majority of the guys I'm playing this with, only bring 2 bullets. We play in a 'semi-public lounge' and it's not quite the same as guys coming over to the house to play for hours. (see upcoming rant thread).

I think having to take a break isn't horrible HU, I just wish it wasn't mid-hand, although looking at the timer we could simply break early and let it time out.

Finally, I do like to support those that write apps. I don't pay for all of the apps that i use, but I do like to send some money to the people/companies that provide the apps (in-app purchases). In this case, I'd really like to use Google credits that I have on my phone, to send for a lifetime pass. Unfortunately, the $15 lifetime option is no longer available.

Yesterday, hanging around with some of the poker guys, we decided to play 4 handed, for a couple hours, just to play. We used the actual cards. When we got to 3 handed, we decided to switch to BP. One of the guys had just seen the demo, took him a few minutes to get used to.

One problem, he kept full revealing his cards instead of peeking. When he did that, the cards on board that he used to make the high hand (at the time) would shift up. Ex. Board AT3 - 8, he peek/reveals, the A83 pop up. They are suited, and now we can infer that he has a flush. OK, it wasn't that bad, but maybe the app should wait until the river to 'push up' the winning hand. He was able to learn to peek.

Another suggestion was to have the winning pocket card(s) brought up to the iPad screen. Not everyone can tell if their cards are shifted up.

Related to the last suggestion, I kept revealing/hiding my winning hand. That kept the board shifting and 2nd bests hand shifting too. I guess I'm just a jerk.

I am finally a paying customer. After the app paused mid-hand, and the two of us that have used it in the past explained how it works, the new guy snap pulled $5 out, handed it to me and asked me to unlock it. I don't think we even played the next full half hour.

Still hoping to ship google credits.

Hey BigBlue56,

sorry for taking so long to get back, I either didn't get or missed the email notifications about your replies.

We've released an update this Monday that brings VoiceOver support and other enhancements which you can read about on our blog:
https://boldpoker.net/blog/2015/08/b...-for-the-blind

We've also considered your feedback concerning the pricing and are currently testing out a reduced price per night of $1.99.

Regarding the break in the middle of the hand: I do realize it's annoying but that's also the point. I'm afraid if we let the hand complete there'd be not enough incentive to remove the breaks.

What device did you keep accidentally revealing your cards on? Was is your SCH-I545? I think we'll try to increase the threshold for the reveal so that doensn't happen anymore. Did you quit playing so short after the unlock because of these accidental reveals?

Thanks for your continued feedback! If you'd like to continue using the app and help us improve like you have I'd gladly unlock your iPad for lifetime play.

No problem. I know you are hands on, and actually looking for feedback. I don't mind responding and helping.

I do have a legally blind guy that used to play with us 10+ years ago. Nice to know there are options to make it easier for him to play. Will an option to read the board cards also be coming down the line?

I generally head out on Wed afternoons to play with a small group. A few of them are good with tech, and when we know we're going to play for a while, we use BP.

Cool. It's been years since I got my undergrad in economics, and there were no commercial internet, smart phones or apps to consider in marketing classes. I'll defer to you guys with pricing and break timing. But I will share my thoughts. I do think the $1.99 makes it easier for both players to kick a buck in and unlock it. I'd think that most players would be willing to kick in a buck, but having each individual player have to 'buy' access is limiting. I don't know how easy you could provide HU for $1.99, 3-player access for $2.99, and so on up the the $4.99 that it was. I'm also a fan of lifetime vs daily, but you know that.

The accidental reveal was my friend on his iPhone 6+. It was his first time using it to actually play. In the past we used it to show him without playing for real. Again, not being an expert, I wonder if there is a way to allow the user to change the threshold.

No, we quit playing short because this crowd is strange. There are 4+ guys willing to start at some point in the afternoon. At least 2 leave in the 5-6pm range, and at least 2 others either leave before 9pm or when they get felted. It was not app related.

It's a generous offer, and I'm sure we'll use the app now and then. We played 4 handed yesterday for a couple house, but when we got HU we switched to POFC with cards for 10 minutes.

The board cards (and any other players cards when they reveal them) are already read out when using VoiceOver in the current version.

I was also thinking of changing the price depending on the number of players but decided against it so far because it would complicate things when the number of players change. Maybe you want to start playing before all the players have arrived… But maybe we really should change that. I guess we could also provide the option to purchase a bigger package for when you know you're still going to be more players. I was also thinking of making HU totally free because then people would hopefully see the value and use it earlier in the night next time.

Regarding the threshold to reveal I'd like to have a setting that works for everyone. Did your friend have the iPhone in his hand or laying on the table while he was playing? In the new version on iPhone we now prompt people to put it on the table when they pick it up and show them what we think is the best way to hold it (this is what everyone I played with initially did: pick up his phone and hold it like he normally does).

Glad to hear there were no other issues besides the accidental reveal!

Nice job on the readout, I might have to plug in to listen for my buddies cards when he does the accidental mid-hand reveal

I'm sure your group has better pricing ideas, but it was really just the one guy who wanted to snap pay/continue. When HU, we don't mind the break. As we get to 3 or 4 and it's a buck-ish a guy, no biggie.

Most of the group still prefers actual cards when we are more than 4 handed. Sure it's great to play without cards on a bus/train, at the pool/beach, but there is still a chip issue in those places without cards.

We all leave it on the table, cup our left hand around the top left to shield and use our right index to peek. No lefties yet, will there be plans to reverse the reveal for them?

I'll keep you posted each time we use it.

Any thoughts on 'copying' the winning player hand onto the screen, after the river is dealt and winning cards have been revealed?

We've been thinking about displaying the winning hand on the iPad as well and are considering different options for that. If you've got any ideas for what you think could work visually, let me know. Some of the stuff one can come up with would probably require knowledge of the seating positions at the table so that might be something we have to figure out in the process as well.

We're playing mostly three to six-handed but in our round nobody wants to put up with dealing anymore. Like you said, Bold Poker is currently not made for playing a quick game when you don't have cards on a bus or at the pool - not sure if this will change in the near future.

An option for left-handlers is definitely something I think we should add. Thanks for the suggestion and your continued feedback!
