Re: Bizarre River bluff at home game, thoughts plz
just to clarify a couple of things, i said im playing in the UK, obv 10p/20p is pence, thats the LIMITS we were playing, and the game was nlhe. not that difficult to get your head around lol
in response to why I called the turn I only thought about half the time he had one of the high ace hands, this is the spewiest guy at the table and i did really want a big pot with him, my plan was to call off a 4-7 pound river bet which was what i expected, not like 19 quid from more ales nowhere.
I raised the button cos as one of the posts said the game we play is pretty crazy and swingy, obv im not raising for value, but the way the game plays making your hands is so profitable that im always raising/squeezing the button whether it be like a6 or like 10 5 or sum **** lol, I like to give a lot of action, and was just unfortunate that the biggest fish at the table decided to go crazy!
Thanks for advice guys and had a good giggle at my own expense at sum of the jokes haha
A+

No. 10p/20p are the blind structure NOT limits. NLHE means NO limits.

What is nlhe? i assume it is No Limit Hold em. maybe its some other game I'm not familiar with .... but assuming i am correct would you kindly explain to me why you think you can play NO LIMIT POKER with LIMITS?
No its not easy to get my head around it. Probably because you refuse to learn the proper terminology. I suspect you mean 10p and 20p were the blinds.
You see blinds and limits are different things.......

Re: Bizarre River bluff at home game, thoughts plz
QJ pedantry aside your play was horrible on every street except the river.
The problem raising A6 is you never know where you are. It's possible you know for sure any A ahead of you would definitely not have limped pf in which case you have top pair no competition but that is too unlikely imo, and your thinking in the post also flagged you had kicker concerns.
So you hit the A but don't know if you're out kicked. Given that, and you could have anticipated the scenario pre flop, why raise? Now any decision you make is for a bigger pot, and YOU will be the one with a tough decision (of 3 possible hands, AK, A6 or 34 which is the hardest to play from the flop?).
As played, can you call the donk flop bet and 2 calls? you have to put yourself behind on a dry board I'd think.
I'm ok with a limp pf if it's a laff game, but if I'm playing to win I :
Pre flop : fold
Flop (as played) : fold
Turn (as played) : fold
River (as played) : fold
And no patrony but if you're posting here then you want to improve (I assume). Go to the microstakes NL forum and read the strategy stickies. They will help you improve your game no end. You can still play laggy and have fun, but understanding of strategy will enable you to do that and win.

My suggestion, for future posts, is to take a little more time and clear up these inconsistencies.. and your lazy typing.
Otherwise, you might not be happy with the types of reactions and tone that you get.

Well, THAT will certainly teach a brand new poster to come her and ask questions... gets mocked for the units, overly pedantic faux confusion over wording... and slammed on the play.
Welcome to 2+2! We hope you enjoy your stay!

I generally fold this preflop, FWIW. You're behind any hand that will give you action, and you fold the best hand a lot. What's your target? What hands do you want people to have against you?

Re: Bizarre River bluff at home game, thoughts plz
but thats my point dude i do believe he can have a bluff, my call is right on the flop and turn i figure to be ahead but see no value in raising, i am right here. i figure he can defo just bet the flop randomly, even pick up a queen or king and just bet anyway, player is very bad/spewey and he can definately be making a play here and i can just call a river bluff, if he bets like 6 quid on the end when i snap it off I look like a hero, but instead he bluffs me off it.

You ask for thoughts, and then tell people they're wrong?
