Our game ended about an hour ago and I just finished most of the clean-up -- such a nice way to unwind. We started out playing orbits of NLHE/PLO/PLO8/STud8 before switching to orbits of Dealer's Choice. Incredibly, we played until 4:30 am and nobody left early! Good times!
I unwind after hosting a home game the same way. My players always offer to help, and I always refuse. Tearing down allows me to do a quick mental review of the session and then start getting out of "poker mode."

Once in a while, I like to leave my table out and create a massive, thousand-chip pyramid before packing everything up.

I do something geeky like this once or twice each time I get a new set. And I do still have a table out from Friday night, though it wasn't for a poker game. My wife and I had three other couples over and had a non-poker game night. I'm hosting poker on Tuesday, so I just didn't bother putting the table away.

Fluxx is a favorite game of mine, and early on Friday, Mrs. S surprised me with Fluxx: The Board Game. Of course, that was the first one we broke out.

Had the 4th interview today. It was for a place that I already worked in the past, but as a teacher. Things went alright, but they are not in any hurry, looking to hire in June and with the salary range, it would be the last place I would want to work...

Also got a letter in the mail today from the place that was closest and had the best pay. It also was the one where the my friend (I thought...) is the incoming superintendent who messaged me to come interview. Seriously, you ****ing ask me to come interview and I get a ****ing letter even after you said you would call. They wanted someone with more "experience." Why waste my time? And from a friend?! Oh wait, she defriended me on Facebook. **** you. No word on the other two jobs, although both would require me to move. FML.

On top of it I have a dissertation proposal defense to give on Friday. This is the second one I've had to do because I had to get a new chair because of the health problems with the other one. I get the prize for being the first doc student at the university to defend twice. What contest in hell did I win? Can't wait for this part to be over so I can do my research and finish this damn thing.

Sorry I'm in a very **** the world place right now.....The only thing cheering me up is: 1) I'm finally taking my car out of storage on Friday; 2) A hyper aggro, pedal to the metal, player is signed up for my game on Saturday. When he plays he swings no less than 5 buy ins and makes the game so much fun.

Damn, that's rough. Career-climbing can get dirty, and it sounds like your "friend" pulled a pretty cold one on you there. I've had it happen to me too (not the exact details, of course, but close). It can sometimes end up working out in your favor, but it still sucks, and naturally you'd like to wring the *******'s neck.

I like this last bit of news a lot better. Poker's going to be a little dry for me for the next couple weeks, so feel free to hold onto this bit of rungoot I've been saving. Never hurts against a maniac.

Oh, man, that totally sucks. Focus on the good things in your life. The other crap will work itself out.

Wishing you some serious rungoot this weekend, but please leave a little for me.

Wow, that's pretty f***ed up. Maybe after the interview she didn't think you were the right fit, but damn. At least make the call and say so instead of hiding under a rock while doing FB damage control.

Any chance one of the non-local jobs is in Orlando?

Would you want to work for someone with that sort of character? I'm thinking no.

Of course not, and it's great that he found out now instead of down the road.

But still, she basically slowrolled him. I'd be pissed too.
