For instance it's pretty laughable to believe that 2.7 times more people have heard of Donald Trump than Barack Obama.

First time I ever heard of him was when he was musical guest on SNL a few months ago lol. My 9 year old has forgotten more about him than I'll ever know. If twitter had not alerted me to his presence I'm sure I would have missed it entirely.

I was more shocked by the appearance of Inspector Butterman/Professor Slughorn than I was Ed Sheeran.

(gf had to tell me that it was Sheeran. FWIW I've heard his songs especially the one from Hobbit, but didn't know what he looked like)

Looks like I'm not the only one with racist social circles itt

These statements appear at first glance to be in opposition but they're actually both true. I'd slightly amend alex's take to "the maesters at the Citadel are not trouble with the problems in Westeros." As Chris points out, they do go out into the world and deal with "the problems in Westeros" on a daily basis, one would think that mindset would make its way back to the Citadel in some fashion.

heh yeah I said at the time that the scene with Sam and the "restricted area" of the library instantly reminded me of Harry Potter at the Hogwarts library and then in the very next scene there's Slughorn cutting up a body

Had no idea Ed Sheeran was even someone. Never heard of him or seen him before lol

lol. Ed Sheeran is European, bro. At least until Brexit happens.

Please forgive me, like i said i'm in my late 30s and never had a thing for pop music D:

Anyway, not like GoT really needs marketing operations but this Ed Sheeran thing sure made social networks blow up. Could be something HBO had in mind...

Sigh. I suppose I'll now have to go and listen to an Ed Sheeran song.

I promise you, there is absolutely no need to do so.

And just to close the loop with a casino/poker reference, Ed Sheeran played to a sold out house at Mohegan Sun this past Friday.

Nip surprise to see lots of this, not because the ep sucked but because we've all had forever to build up unrealistic expectations.

It was a fine and necessary episode.

The whole idea behind actors and actresses is that people play characters who are not themselves. What is wrong with Ed Sheeran playing someone else on a tv show? Its not like he acted poorly in that scene.

It took me out of the scene but you put any famous person in a scene and it will pretty much do the same thing.
07-18-2017 , 04:03 PM
ya i mean if they want to do it then go ahead whatever, it's your show

but +1 to it took me out of the scene

i don't really care tho, just sayin'

Honestly spoke with a few viewers and have never heard of him. I guess I need to broaden my horizons . Is he any good?

The sheeran controversy seems a little silly to me. I listened to a couple of his songs today and he seemed okay -- he didn't wow me but he wasn't horrible, either.
07-18-2017 , 04:40 PM
I knew it was him as soon as I heard the voice, but it really didn't distract me at all. It's not like he was performing a new song in some type of product placement.
07-18-2017 , 04:55 PM
I've heard that coke-whore song before, it's pretty catchy. Couldn't have said who sung it. He's no Carly Rae Jepsin.
