The trailer is amazing, I can't wait to start to watch the new season. It's also quite depressing that there are only 2 more left though

Winter is coming!!

Even after I don't know how many rewatches, I still catch new things. Many people loved when in season 5 Stannis corrected the night watchman with "fewer", and Davos was like "what?". Well in season 2 Stannis made the same correction to Davos and he had the same reaction. Caught that this weekend. Show is amazing.

Just dropping in to say I will be quite sad if we don't get undead zombie dragons out of this.

That guy is gonna die. This season, almost certainly.

I'll take 2/1 odds he lives this season. I have no inside information and I'm assuming you know way more about the show than me judging from your posts

I'm backing my pony til the end baby. Can't kill off the best character again

EDIT: This isn't like a put your money where your mouth is bet. Just a small bet on the side for a little extra sweat while watching

I'm unspoiled, but several details in promo materials suggest that Littlefinger is in the firing line this season. We can have a bet if you like, but you're probably burning money. I'm a fan of him too, my fave characters are him and Jaime.

Ok I won't do it.

But when he lives im saying I told you so

Love me some kingslayer.

Which is more powerful, his value of duty or family? When Cersei ups her crazy and puts KL at risk, does Jamie again slay royalty? Or does he back Cersei 100%, ending maybe Romeo & Juliette style?

I'm binge-rewatching the last 2 seasons. Just watched s05e06, and re-lived the greatest quote in the history of television:

Spoiler:
"The dwarf lives until we find a cock merchant"

Spoiler contains a prophecy from the books which was omitted from the show:

Spoiler:
In the show, Maggy the Frog's prophecy stops after she predicts that Cersei will become queen, but be cast down by another "younger and more beautiful", and that her kids will die. But in the books, it continues:

Quote:
And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you.
"Valonqar" is High Valyrian for "younger brother". Naturally Cersei thinks this means Tyrion, which in the books is part of her motivation for hating him. However, of the twins, Cersei was born first, so Jaime is also her younger brother, and most fans think the prophecy refers to Jaime.

This may or may not be intentional, but in the scene with Jaime and Cersei in the Painted Room in the S7 trailer, Cersei is standing on a region of Westeros called "The Neck" and Jaime is standing on a region called "The Fingers".

On the subject of Cersei and this prophecy:

Quote:
Aye. Queen you shall be... until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear.
Cersei thought this meant Margaery, and the audience is supposed to think it means Daenerys. Sansa is an outside chance, but there's another possibility: Brienne. Brienne is younger than Cersei, but she is ugly (uglier in the books than in the show). She does have an inner beauty though, and perhaps that's what Maggy was referring to. That sounds pretty hokey and eye-rolling, but it might work if handled well. The bolded would make some sense given the potential relationship between Jaime and Brienne, and the whole thing could work without being too hokey if we're to understand here that Jaime is the judge of "more beautiful". His choice of Brienne over Cersei would be the culmination of his arc of rejecting the selfishness and amorality of House Lannister and of Cersei, and embracing the honor and integrity personified by Brienne. So this shift from "beautiful" meaning superficial beauty to meaning something deeper would thereby be given a bit more narrative depth.

It's probably just Daenerys in reality, but it's an interesting possibility.

He's run pretty low on family. Only Cersei and Tyrion are still alive, and the former has indirectly killed as many of that family as the latter has directly. I imagine that's going to make her unhinged - as they keep saying, the only positive thing about her is that she loves her children. Well, they're gone now.

The books and show diverge as regards Jaime's relationship with his family. In show and books, Tywin wants Jaime to leave the Kingsguard (with the High Septon releasing him from his vow) and become Lord of Casterly Rock. Jaime refuses and Tywin is angry, saying he no longer considers him a Lannister.

But in the show, Jaime later offers to Tywin to leave the Kingsguard and become Lord of Casterly Rock if Tywin will spare Tyrion's life after his trial. Jaime and Tyrion later share a hug goodbye, it's all very touching.

In the books, Jaime never reconciles with Tywin, and he arranges Tyrion's escape through Varys. During the escape, Jaime tells Tyrion that his wife from his youth, Tysha, was not really a whore arranged by his father to teach him a lesson, she was a real woman who really had wanted to marry him. Tyrion is furious and, partly as a result of this, falsely tells Jaime that he killed Joffrey:

Quote:
“You poor stupid blind crippled fool . . . I am the monster they all say I am. Yes, I killed your vile son.” He made himself grin. It must have been a hideous site to see, there in the torchlight gloom.
So in the books, Jaime is even more disillusioned with his family.

Definitely true, but worth noting this is not really a positive about Cersei. As with her relationship with Jaime, her "love" for her children is really an expression of her own narcissism, with her children as extensions of self. Cersei spoils, overprotects and manipulates her children, using them as tools to gain power for herself, she's an awful mother. About the best you can say for her is that her awfulness is partly a result of her upbringing. She is complex and I like the character, but in the end she is a seriously bad person. I think show Cersei is probably a bit softer and more humanised than book Cersei as well.

Not that it really matters that much but it still cracks me up how pathetic bookreaders are that they can't help but come into this thread and post a bunch of book related garbage.
07-16-2017 , 01:12 PM
Don't believe he's ever posted in the book reader thread. 99% chance that he's just typing up a summary for a video he saw or a theory he read from another forum.

This has been the case for 99% of the accusations that bookreaders come in here and ruin things. If anything we've been helping out.

Not sure why I'm posting this again since it never gets through, but hey just 1 more season left!

Maybe I'm being dumb but aren't we way past the books now?

BUT MY TRIBE IS THE CORRECT TRIBE!

I quite like a thread where no TV spoilers or fan theories are allowed though. I hate clicking on the book reader thread and finding out that xyz has got a credit on IMDB this season.

important ppl will die this season, and i don't see Littlefinger as all that meaningful for the endgame, so he can get got.

and Sansa outmaneuvering him is important for her development as a character, so it'll probably happen sooner than later.

who else is probably unnecessary for the endgame? any of the Iron Islanders (i assume the Greyjoy battle will take place this season), the Woatsnakes, Olenna Tyrell probably, the Brotherhood Without Banners, all of the middling Davos level characters, the CleganeBowl will probably happen this season, etc.
