Tyrion said "what kind of idiot would arm his assassin with his own blade?" to Cat Stark when they were on the road to the Eyrie, not at the trial.
It's also important to note that he volunteered that information, and wasn't responding to anything Cat asked him. That means he's admitting to ownership of the dagger, confirming LF's story. Whether or not the dagger was stolen from him was never mentioned.
I'm not saying LF is innocent in the attempt on Bran's life, just that his story about the dagger seems true.
