Oh, no, you're absolutely right - nice catch. The perfect finish would've been a post report so mods would see it, but a couple other people did, so it's all good.

This is exactly the kind of thing everyone needs to be on the lookout for now. We hadn't had any incidents to make us think the passwords were decrypted and out there, but this might be the first. However, it looks like the account has been used by what I thought was the real owner only yesterday, so I'm not sure now - password should have been force changed then. I'm going to investigate further.

Turns out "OP" and "tiltwithoutareason" have posted from the same IP address, which is in Germany. Shocking.

So was this 2+2 actually hacked or was it just a fool's attempt by the real 2p2-account owner to scam?

OK, this thread is a creation of three threads merged together, created by a scammer that got access to OP's account, as well as that of tiltwithoutareason. This may have been a result of the 2+2 database being compromised, or something else.

I've been in contact with the original owner of OP's account, or I'm reasonably sure I have, and am putting him back in control of the account. I say "reasonably sure" because it's near-impossible to be 100% certain, depending on how deep into OP's information the scammer got. So one of the reasons I'm keeping this thread alive is so if anyone has reason to believe there's still something not kosher with OP, they can let us know. The other reason is as a warning that scammers are out there, and because of our database breach, everyone needs to be extra vigilant when dealing with other posters - numerous times over the years, posters' accounts have been compromised. While it may have been because of a breach on our end this time (and apologies to OP if that's the case), many times before it's been because of carelessness on the part of a poster - it can happen at any time.

Use a unique and secure password, and be careful when entering financial dealings with fellow posters, that the person is who you think they are. Are they buying/selling/trading things they normally do? Has their posting changed dramatically? Can you confirm any off-site details that give you a higher level of confidence? Etc., etc.

And I don't want this thread to cast a shadow on OP's account. I have no reason not to believe he's on the up and up; just being cautious.

Just want to say that the account hacking happened at the start of a BR challenge that I had staked the OP. That challenge is now over and the profits have been paid out. I am very confident that this is the real NoPointBluffing
