Reads: Villian was raising an absolute ton of hands pre. He had been the chip leader before spewing off chips. However he was capable of folding and I had 3 bet a couple of times previously and he had snap folded. Is this shove ok, based on these reads? Obviously very anyone else at table it was a snap fold. He wasn't a stack sized aware player so could easily still fold here if he had nothing.

I'd say this is pretty borderline, but probably a decent move if villain has been very aggro.

One thing I would point out is that if he's min opening out of a 13BB stack instead of open shoving, that might indicate more strength than otherwise.

You'll have a better indication on how he's been playing his short stack compared to when he was deeper.

If you are really sure of your read then it could be Ok but I'm doubting it. How much has he been opening since he got short-stacked? - most players tighten up quite a lot when they get short - esp in late stage play. And he will likely have noticed the CO with only 10BB - is he really going to be opening anything with the plan to fold to a 10BB shove - If he's planning to call 10BB he will likely call 14 - especially if you've been 3 betting him.

I'd prefer to call or fold depending on how you feel about his post-flop play.

Thanks for your opinions. In hindsight this was a mistake and I shud have flatted. Maybe shoving AJ, 77+ here.

I'm just curious, why do you think it was a mistake?

I think "oldgoat" makes some good points. However, based on what you said in your description about him not being, "stack sized aware" I think a shove is okay especially against an aggro late position stealer.

I've played with a ton of players who were not "stack size aware" and you'd be surprised with the hands they open on a ss. I know this is definitely player dependent but I don't think it's a horrible play.
