I'm posting two hands in one post because they are related. ~65-75 players left
1)
Poker Stars, $2.50 Buy-in (7,000/14,000 blinds, 1,750 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 8 Players Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.
Preflop: Hero is BB with A 3
5 folds, BTN raises to 42,000, 2 folds
Spoiler:
Results: 49,000 pot
BTN mucked and won 49,000 (33,250 net)
AFAIR V was not very active at this table. This opening sizing says that he's never folding here obv and I was thinking that I'm way behind vs his range.
2) Two hands later, same opponent:
Poker Stars, $2.50 Buy-in (7,000/14,000 blinds, 1,750 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 8 Players Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.
Preflop: Hero is BTN with 4 A
3 folds, MP3 raises to 28,000, CO folds, Hero raises to 122,416 and is all-in, BB folds, MP3 calls 94,416
Flop: (274,081) 3 9 5 (3 players, 2 are all-in) Turn: (274,081) K (3 players, 2 are all-in) River: (274,081) 9 (3 players, 2 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: 274,081 pot
Final Board: 3 9 5 K 9
SB showed 4 8 and lost (-2,999 net)
MP3 showed T T and won 274,081 (149,915 net)
Hero showed 4 A and lost (-124,166 net)
because of his sizing 2 hands earlier I thought that his range might be now weaker so decided to push. SB is all in but I don't think that KO factor really matters in this phase.
Folding both hands especially the 2nd one you have a really weak unsuited A against a big stack opening, you hardly have any fold equity so he will call you down with a lot of hands, and yes you may have the best hand but my god just about any hand he's opening with is going to have a really decent shot and running you down unless he has a weaker A, and if that's the case then a lot of the time you'll end up chopping the pot with the villian.
