So I was playing the 10+1 KO, and there were 3 hands that caught my attention, and I am trying to finally have the discipline to post hands and get feedback on them.
Ok, so here is my question before I start off; in HOH, author states that suited connectors and small pairs lose a lot of value in the yellow zone, and you are better off not playing them.
Ok, cool....does the fact it is a multi-way pot mitigate this in any way, shape or form?
Of course, 2 gapper. Mindfart there.
So you indeed confirm that in the Yellow Zone these type hands are to be thrown away.
Must be the training videos I have seen, seen people opening (not shoving) with small pp's with a similar M.
On to the next hand then!
Villain is 22/15 over small sample (100 hands), seems to be VERY aggressive post-flop.
Preflop: Hero is BTN with J K
UTG+2 folds, MP1 raises to 1,979 and is all-in, 3 folds, Hero calls 1,979, SB folds, BB calls 1,779
Flop: (6,277) 7 K Q (3 players, 1 is all-in)
BB checks, Hero bets 2,196, BB calls 2,196
Turn: (10,669) 6 (3 players, 1 is all-in)
BB bets 9,538 and is all-in, Hero folds
River: (10,669) 2 (2 players, 2 are all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: 10,669 pot
Final Board: 7 K Q 6 2
Hero mucked J K and lost (-4,205 net)
BB showed T Q and won 10,669 (6,464 net)
MP1 showed A T and lost (-2,009 net)
In retrospect, this seems a panicky move, as in "gonna bet big because I don't want a call".
But I guess a fold is not terrible here. To be honest, I put him on a set/2 pair. Thoughts?
Been a while since I read HOH. Feel free to ignore this, but I don't recall a tremendous amount that's helpful beyond a TAG approach. What is the yellow zone and what is M? Is it simply a different calculation of blinds/antes and various hands' value within ranges of stack-sizes?
Not trying to hijack the post. Ignore this if you want. Just trying to get an idea of what you mean by a similar "M".
I know the pot odds warrant a call, but the whole stack size thing confuses me.
I mean, when can a stack size be considered deep enough to call?
According to HOH, but also Negreanu's small ball approach for example, my stack is not deep enough.
I am trying see if I can find consensus here, as it is a multiway pot (larger implied odds) and I am getting excellent odds to call.

This many opponents involved personally I'm never folding, not even with 10 big blinds. To be honest I think those approaches are pretty outdated for online play nowadays.
