Stacking off with tptk

Hello,

I am new to posting on these forums but here goes. Last night I was mid way through a $10 f/o and i was ~30 bb deep and got dealt AQ on the button. Somebody raised in MP who covered me and I flatted. Flop came Q high and I again flatted his cbet. He bets again on the K turn and I end up getting all my chips in the middle. I know I didn't play this hand perfectly but I'm wondering how I could have played it better and if I should be able to get away from tptk on this flop with my stack. He had KK for a turned set.

Re: Stacking off with tptk

Pre flop seems pretty close between a 3bet/call and 3 bet/fold depending on the villian. I can see flatting the open there, but you really dont gain any info and you can potentially have a dominated hand. I really like 3 betting here and calling or folding to a shove depending on villian. As played I think the flat on the flop is ok, but I dont like the turn play. You basically have a bluff catcher and since villian opened pre, cbet, and then fired again your hand doesnt seem all that strong. Might need more info tho to know for sure. Was it a dry flop or were there draws? Also, try not to post results next time

3bet preflop. as played call flop, call turn, call river probably. no reason to raise turn. raising flop has merits against some spewy opponents

No I had no read, but usually these tourneys are rather spewy so I expected a fairly wide range pre. In hindsight I see a 3 bet/fold line might have been better but in general if you flop top pair top kicker on a relatively dry board how deep should you be to get away from it.

His bet size on the flop might give you an idea of how strong his hand was. Was is half the pot, pot, etc? What was his turn bet? He beats anything you could possibly have so sometimes you'll see a suspiciously small bet.

I'd do the opposite. Flatting pre is definitely ok and r/c otf.
