Shove 12.5 big blinds with 88 while risking 4th place bust out? Shove 12.5 big blinds with 88 while risking 4th place bust out?

Unsure how specific the details need to be but I played a hand as I would normally considering the hand and the stack size but I'm worried I didn't properly consider the pay jumps in my decision.

Final 4 players in $1500 guaranteed tournament. In for $20.

Payouts are:

1st = $522
2nd = $261
3rd = $174
4th = $104

Hero is on button with 12.5 big blinds
SB has 22 big blinds
BB has 14 big blinds
CO has 10.5 big blinds

Hero dealt 88.

At most points in tournament I would shove once folded to since I am getting short stacked. So I did that this time.

BUT I am worried I overlooked ICM considerations. The pay jumps are big - 4th is $104 while 3rd is an additional $74. And 2nd and 1st are where all the cash really is.

Should I have folded? How would I do the calculation needed to determine that?

End of the hand was that BB had KK and it held. Pretty anti-climactic.

you can get ICMizer to work this out - but I'm pretty sure it's a good shove - generally you need to adjust calling ranges much more than shoving ones and you have to keep on playing aggressively. You just got unlucky.

def get 88 in there u prolly can jam any pair, suited Ace/A9o, K8s/KTo, suited broadways, T9s maybe even wider. SB is the one were really worried about because he can call us wider than the bb who if he calls and loses will be left wth 1.5bb and prolly bust next. So in spots like these u can actually use icm in your favor and jam a bit wider to put that icm pressure on ur opp.

U shove 88 here but if you're in bb with 88 facing a shove i believe due to ICM w fold

Yeah I don't see anything wrong with that. I guess you can make a case for min raising to induce. But if you did that, I think you'd still probably have to call. So, NH...

Definite shove. You are targeting a first place finish.
Icmizer lets you run a few free hands a day.

icm only influences your decision drastically when chips gained only give you a small advantage in comparison to losing chips/busting. that's usually the case when you have a middling stack and there is at least one super short stack. in your spot this is def not the case since you are basically tied for last place in which case you can shove your std ranges. its not super likely for you to ladder up if you fold, whereas if there was a 1.5bb stack at the tbl, that would drastically influence your decision and you would have to shove pretty tight.

I'm not sure if I wanna induce with 88 or not. I'd prob just jam.
