PS 3r: 120 left - AJ UTG hittingTPTK on wet board

120 plrs, avg stack is 100k

villain is a really good reg with very large winnings ..
i have hands from old tourneys, played no pot ag him today as he just got moved (the old stats are 20/17/13)
generally i was relatively active, AJ utg at this stage is a 2x raise for me. I fold if i get pushed into by larger stacks.

i have the following questions:

fold /push pre or is my raise ok?
can i fold TPTK with 20 bb otf ?
what would you put villain on ?
i put him on a big draw most of the time so I am commited as I only have sth like 45k (15bb) behind after betting flop?

thanks !

I'd make the same raise pre and you're folding to most 3b's.

I would fold otf. Against this guy there's almost zero fd's in his range. You might get lucky to see QJs or KJs, but he's almost always folding those pre (and you're not even in good shape against them).

His most likely holding is probably KQx. He'll flip AA a lot too. Given your image he'd probably 3b 99-JJ pre, but I suspect you'll see that sometimes. I wouldn't hold my breath to see QJx/KJx.

U are oop. U will have a big disadvantage if u raise and get called.

With a M of just 9, shove pre. U are not deep enough to play post flop and fold.

I really think open-mucking this UTG is probably best unless you're super-confident playing post flop, because you're just going to get into too many awkward spots with your position and stack size. A raise isn't terrible at a tight table and with a good image, but the fact is most opponents at this buy-in aren't going to be thinking about image. Flop is an easy b/f, you're either crushed already or up against a big draw pretty close to 100% of the time.

What about b/f pre if the table is tight.

Shove pre if the table is active

raise is fine
depends on his preflop flatting range in this spot and his postflop agression

I'm probably folding PF from UTG at these stacks. As played its uncomfortable but getting AIOTF is probably the right move this short. I mean we could b/f but that could be a disastrously -ev move as well.

I prefer to avoid any complication, and keep it simple shoving pre.

For me is:

shoving>fold>r/gii>>>r/f

Open shoving this stack from EP is kind of a gamble. Not saying it can't be done or can't be +ev in the right situation, it's pretty thin in general and u should feel more than OK open folding.

Re: PS 3r: 120 left - AJ UTG hittingTPTK on wet board

If we shove we're misusing our stack. In terms of cEV AJo is probably the absolute bottom of a profitable range anyway, and it's an unnecessary gamble imo.

r/eval > fold > shove

and by r/eval I mean r/f in most cases. We're deep enough to avoid r/gii against most 3b ranges which crush us.
