Hello, so I'm playing a local regular tournament with structure of 15k starting stack 1 rebuy 1 addon (addon 20k) 20min levels (similar to ept structure). I play well vs's regulars and thinking players but I really struggle vs the fish. They limp a lot and call almost all raises with Kx and all random hands like that. My main strat is to just play tight and raise big to get value from their weak hands. But since levels go up so fast and when I get card dead I get to around 30-40 bigs and I get stuck I dont know how to play weaker hands like KQs 66-99 and ATo. Any tips and advice of strategy for this tournament structure?

You can limp against fish with improving hands. Don't feel like you need to play your standard balanced game against these players. Massively exploit them instead..

We want to watch closely and see what he is doing with his range. You need to get into the mind of the fish. They usually have a very rudimentary view of poker but it's still your job to work out what he's thinking. Then adjust accordingly.

Thanks a lot. I have this "problem" that i think I must raise if i want to enter the pot and since you dont get too many hands worth raising i just fold all those profitable hands like suited gappers IP. What do you think are limp/call all in ranges of these type of players? I ran into a problem this monday while playing 2 fish limped and I had K9s from BTN and I was thinking of shoving ~18-20bb's to get a fold from them do you think this would be too loose since they might call too wide or do you think i can go in even looser thinking that they dont want to get it in with weak aces/kings/small pockets?

I personally wouldn't often bluff them often if at all. Remember we don't need to balance! We can play pure value.

Having said that, there are certainly times to bluff fish and the spot above might well be one of them. Whether it is a good play does depend on their ranges. If we see that they have been open raising aswel as limping, then usually we can presume that his range is very weak while limping, so by all means, make bluff jams... As we are getting about 5:1, and we have a little pot equity if they continue, we need them to both fold something like 70% of the time to make the play profitable. Other things come into consideration too like the prize money available if we were to stay in the game.. (My maths isn't amazing and I roughed all those numbers)

Really though, the place where you could do with advancing, is in making exploitative plays. I have created a thread which specifically was designed to develop our skills exploiting. It's called 'yadis perfect thought process'. Please do take a look.
