Hello, I'm copying and pasting some hands that I'm sure have an array of issues but I'm noticing that a common theme in many of them is an issue with flop betting.

Winning Poker Network (Yatahay) - 450/900 NL - Holdem - 8 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

CO: 76.18 BB (VPIP: 44.14, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 113)
Hero (BTN): 50.14 BB
SB: 30.4 BB (VPIP: 28.89, PFR: 26.67, 3Bet Preflop: 12.50, Hands: 45)
BB: 42.17 BB (VPIP: 15.38, PFR: 9.15, 3Bet Preflop: 5.80, Hands: 156)
UTG: 17.83 BB (VPIP: 17.12, PFR: 12.73, 3Bet Preflop: 7.32, Hands: 111)
UTG+1: 16.39 BB (VPIP: 18.07, PFR: 12.82, 3Bet Preflop: 7.41, Hands: 84)

MP+1: 50.85 BB (VPIP: 16.07, PFR: 9.01, 3Bet Preflop: 2.00, Hands: 113)

8 players post ante of 0.1 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.3 BB) Hero has Jd Qc

fold, fold, fold, fold, CO calls 1 BB, Hero raises to 2.33 BB, fold, BB calls 1.33 BB, CO calls 1.33 BB

Flop: (8.3 BB, 3 players) Jc Qh 6h
BB checks, CO checks, Hero bets 4 BB, BB calls 4 BB, fold

Turn: (16.3 BB, 2 players) 9s
BB checks, Hero checks

River: (16.3 BB, 2 players) Ts
BB checks, Hero??

Too difficult to comment on so many hands, just post one at a time.

raise a bit more pre - more like 3.5bb
bet a little more on wet flop
I'd carry on betting on the turn
As played I'd still be value betting the river - V has few 8s and in mostly going to lead with a K but I admit it's thin by now.

The pre flop raise has to be bigger.

Flop bet needs to be like 75% on such a wet board in a multiway pot.

You can't check the turn here. You have to bet for value from Qx and for protection against draws.

River.. I think you could go for thin value

I think if you check turn, you shouldn't be betting river. Just way too thin and also good to note he has 44 VPIP so he can have something random like 86 with flopped pair.

Probably should bet turn though and agree with the rest that flop bet sizing should definitely be at least 60% >

Thanks for the responses everyone! I'll say that typically I would raise 3x pre and add a BB for every limp before me. I also would typically cbet 2/3 pot. However, in listening to podcasts and reading about the modern game, I'm seeing a lot more 2.2-2.5x raises and half pot cbets. Is this something that I should avoid at the small stakes?

That logic is good but when there's been a limper already, you have to increase the size of the raise. Similar logic on the flop... in multiway pots your equity decreases massively and when you hit the board like this your bet sizing should be very strong in a multiway pot.

you want to be raising pre antes at 3x the bb, as we get to the middle stage of the tourney with small antes make it 2.5x and as we move later we can go 2-2.1x.

Usually if someone has limped before then you make it x(depending on the stage of the tourney)+1x for every limper. For example if its pre antes and you're btn with two limpers already we can make it 5x.

yes, betting too much is not needed due to many reasons and you will find more success with betting smaller in your cbets. Although if you have a monster and think you can get called on larger bets its better to go larger, then again its vil dependent.

You should adjust your raise/bet sizes to the table dynamics. Against loose calling stations you should increase your sizing for value and to narrow the field.

Personally I think there is an epidemic of minraising in poker these days. Opponents just don't respect a minraise. Adding a small amount on top makes a difference, especially at the higher blinds where an extra 0.1bb looks so much bigger. I hardly ever minraise.
