Preflop: Hero is SB with J J
2 folds, MP1 raises to 2,000, 4 folds, Hero calls 1,500, BB folds (I called mainly to setmine although I didn't notice his stack size until after the call. Pretty big blunder on my part But I also didn't raise because I didn't think I'd be able to get called by worse. and I'm obviously not folding)
Flop: (5,900) T T 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets 10,356 and is all-in, Hero calls 10,356 (Even though he's tight I didn't think he'd have Tx or 55 here ever. TT is probably checking the flop. Overpairs and AK/AQ/AJ made the most sense but I feel like he woulda just shoved preflop with an Overpair.)
Turn: (26,612) Q (2 players, 1 is all-in) River: (26,612) 2 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: 26,612 pot
Final Board: T T 5 Q 2
Hero showed J J and won 26,612 (14,156 net)
MP1 showed K A and lost (-12,456 net)
When you guys say to shove are you saying that in this spot just because of stack sizes? Or would it still be a shove vs this particular villain if they had the same stack size as me?
I will echo the previous comments as well and shove pre.
As played, you basically induced a bet once you check the flop. Villain only has 10BB left and will shove very wide unless we are around the money bubble and he is tight. Once we induce a bet, we have to call it off.
Generally, if villain had 30BB (same as you), and shoved on the flop, I would be a little worried because villain shouldn't feel like he is under pressure to make a move yet. A check or small c-bet by villain would seem to make more sense on the flop with two over cards.
Just one of those hands you gotta go with, as for a better play than what you did is to just shove over top his raise, and iso him from anyone else trying to call his raise. But I think you played it fine.
