+cEV spot in $1.35 knockout.

450ish left, we have about 10-11 BBs, ITM. I'm playing to win the thing, cant settle for a couple of more bucks. I believe it's important to use every single +cEV spot in order to win. This hand has 33% equity vs 18% calling range. You win 1/3 of the time and you only get called 18% of the time and this is a generous calling range, so we show huge profit over the long run. How often do you shove here, and with what stack size? Do you wait for a better spot with, say, >20-25 BBs. Avarage stack at this point 15 BBs, and this is turbo.

    Poker Stars, $1.25 Buy-in (2,000/4,000 blinds, 400 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 9 Players

    MP3: 34,281 (8.6 bb)
    CO: 37,712 (9.4 bb)
    Hero (BTN): 44,664 (11.2 bb)
    SB: 18,737 (4.7 bb)
    BB: 36,969 (9.2 bb)
    UTG+1: 52,808 (13.2 bb)
    UTG+2: 23,628 (5.9 bb)
    MP1: 77,691 (19.4 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 6 K
6 folds, Hero raises to 44,264 and is all-in

as everyone is very short and you arent desperate yet, I wouldn't shove this without knowing that the blinds are nits.

You figured that you would only get called 18% of the time, which is wrong.
Quite sure that a 5 and a 9bb stack are calling lighter, even in those ministakes tourns they will at least call 25-30% of their range, including any ace and most kings

    I'd shove 22+, 78s+, TJ+

Re: +cEV spot in $1.35 knockout.

At first glance I would definitely shove here. However, after reading hu9881's post that the blinds would be calling wider I thought I'd plug it in to SNGWiz. It's suggesting an 81.9% shoving range for Hero from BTN. K6o nets 2182c.

If you're looking for at least a SB difference range (where you make at least 2000 chips), then it's suggesting 47.2% (22+,A2+,K6+,K2s+,Q9+,Q4s+,J9 etc. down to 54s,64s,85s,95s).

I've found that these small stakes tournaments villains are either calling way too tight or way too loose in these spots, and either way K6 plays well against both - tight, you'll get more folds, loose, you'll win more when they call since their range will be wider.

the thing is that i wouldnt only rely on math in spots like that, as its pretty likely that villain is the only player at the table that knows the correct or lets say close to correct play that short stacked. that includes shove/foldgame and shoving/calling ranges.

so if we would make a slightly +ev shove i'd rather fold and pick a better spot.

and even in those stakes the players know that the shoving ranges from the btn and sb are fairly wide, so they do call light.

thats why I chose a nitty range
    Id snapshove K7s and K8

    Hero: Fine.
    Villain: Fine.

One of you has to win.

I think K6 is strong enough to shove here without a doubt.

    No problems with your play.
