Hey guys

I found myself in this spot and my friend who was railing said I should have folded. Would love some opinions!

I can't find the hand on my PT4, so I'll just write in here

$7.50 6 max Hyper. 14 players left. Blinds are 4000/8000. Table has been pretty loose as you can imagine in the hypers the blinds go up super quick! I'm 4th in chips on 159k. I'm in BB with A9o. Btn who has 140k rasies to 24k. I think folding is too tight, calling is worse as we miss flop heaps and will face a cbet most of the time, so concluded shoving was the best play.

What do you guys think?

what is your history on btn any reads? has vil done many 3x raises?

shoving is decent with the range that the btn is opening on and we have strong FE and antes are usually v.high in hypers.

Folding is way too tight indeed. Although it seems odd a 3x raise on this stage of tournament, A9 is a crystal clear shove for me. GG

Thanks for the replies!

Villian has raised 3x previous two buttons and 3x was his standard raise in other positions. My thinking was his button range is wide and we get a lot of folds and perhaps fold hands we're dogs against such as small pairs and maybe A10.

I did a similar shove earlier from button with 9 10s v button 2x open and he snapped with 55 and I hit a 9. I hate his call as I think he's flipping at best. Rarely do I have 22-44, everything else he's either marginally ahead or way behind.

Anyway, in the situation where I had A9, button called with Aq and I was stacked and ended up out in 9th shortly after. My friend who was railing said I should never shove there but I think results aside it was still a +Ev shove??

In a 6 max hyper vs a BTN open who has done this the last 2 orbits, this is a clearly shove. UL

if that is his default raise than its an easy reshove against his range.

Your friend is being results oriented.

Also regarding the 55 comment, if vil is expecting you to be shipping any PP or A3/4/5x then for sure its a call

That's a pretty easy shove given villain's history of raising 3x on the BTN and (1) you have an Ace blocker; (2) you're ahead of his range; and (3) effective stacks are less than 20bb.
