So here is one of those spots that I an uncomfortable with. Preflop I just call, because I don't want to tangle with the big stack and to keep the small stack in the pot.

PokerStars - 75/150 Ante 20 NL - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 70.17 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 5)
SB: 71.99 BB (VPIP: 21.62, PFR: 16.67, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 37)
Hero (BB): 115.08 BB
UTG: 21.05 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 21)
UTG+1: 26.15 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 20.00, 3Bet Preflop: 14.29, Hands: 21)
MP: 29.32 BB (VPIP: 100.00, PFR: 33.33, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 3)
MP+1: 141.83 BB (VPIP: 40.00, PFR: 20.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 25)
MP+2: 90.71 BB (VPIP: 23.81, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 21)
CO: 23.05 BB (VPIP: 28.57, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)

9 players post ante of 0.13 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.7 BB) Hero has J A

fold, fold, MP raises to 2 BB, fold, MP+2 calls 2 BB, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 1 BB

Flop: (7.7 BB, 3 players) J 3 7
Hero checks, MP bets 1 BB, MP+2 raises to 11 BB

What do you guys make of this raise by MP2? I figure he is trying to iso the small stack and will be doing that with any Jack, possibly 7s too. Sets and Overpairs he would be slowplaying imo. What should I do and why? Call oop and reevaluate the turn? Shove? Could really use some input.

call - I agree we are mostly ahead and raising achieves nothing except folding out worse and giving our chips to better. - it does get tricky when they keep barreling. An overpair or 2 pair would be pretty strange - but there will be sets - Generally I'm unkeen to go all the way with this big an SPR with TPTK without a read.

I'd call too, but it's def a very weird line by him. Board is super dry so no reason to raise your sets or even two pairs here, although villain might of course. I think he does this with some weaker J's to protect against overcards and to take the pot headsup. Would be weird if he bombs turn again but I'd probably end op folding. He also seems a little fishy with 23 vpip but 0 pfr, which makes me wanna call more on the flop.

This looks awfully suspicious - there's no draw for him to raise, and he would have to be a bit cautious trying to isolate in a 3-way pot with a marginal hand. I agree this probably isn't a set but it could be a player trying to get sneaky with KK/AA or maybe even trying to protect his hand with QQ.

The problem with calling here is villain has position on us and we have very few ways to improve our hand. So we call and the flop brings a non-A/J card, we check and villain bets. Do we just call again? Then what do we do on the river?

It seems like one of those very uncomfortable spots where our hand seems too good to fold but we can easily find ourselves heading down a dark tunnel and spewing off a good chunk of our stack by the time it's all over.

It's basically a single bet in position on J73r and we flatted preflop with AJs. Calling seems pretty good.

Calling here looks good. Reassess the turn.

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous hands I have ever seen. Would anybody not have folded preflop?

i dont see how someone can not fold AJo after a 5-bet, especially if you only have seen around 10 hands of villains.
it's very unlikely to be against hands you dominate like AT or even A9s like here, thats the total bottom line of V range. More likely you will be against a better kicker or strong pockets so folding is (in my opinion) the only option.

and I really wanna know MP+1's thought process

Weird hand and good fold

Obviously we are folding after those raises. What buy-in is this?
