Not sure I like how I played this hand. Looking for feedback. Villain's stats are unremarkable through a small sample (23/17 in 47 hands).

Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #37669241

    MP1: 27,816 (27.8 bb)
    MP2: 10,760 (10.8 bb)
    MP3: 3,470 (3.5 bb)
    CO: 30,054 (30.1 bb)
    BTN: 6,194 (6.2 bb)
    Hero (SB): 31,977 (32 bb)
    BB: 13,161 (13.2 bb)
    UTG+1: 31,512 (31.5 bb)
    UTG+2: 27,151 (27.2 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q T
5 folds, CO raises to 2,000, BTN folds, Hero calls 1,500, BB calls 1,000

    Flop: (7,125) 5 Q A (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, CO checks

    Turn: (7,125) 8 (3 players)
Hero bets 3,562, BB folds, CO calls 3,562

    River: (14,249) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets 9,124, Hero folds

I think preflop and flop are standard but not sure about the turn. I thought villain's check meant he likely didn't have an Ace but in hindsight he could have been pot-controlling with a weak Ace. When he calls the bet I figure his range is heavily weighted towards hands that beat me (Ax/AQ/KQ/QJ/KK) so I go into check-fold mode on the turn.

Not wild about defending QTo against tightish player esp with BB having a nice stack to squeeze shove - stack sizes also mean that V should be opening only hands he will call if BTN or BB shoves

As played would x/c turn x/decide river

Theoretically I agree but this is on 888, where players are generally much more passive. Squeeze shoves aren't very common.

I think it's a bit loose pre and I know I can be sticky sometimes.

I agree with the rest that checking turn is the way to go - there's not a lot you're getting value from when you bet. Also the board is as dry as it can get so you're only likely to be overtaken if a K comes on the river.

The way I look at hands when I want to bet for value is to think of how many streets I think I can get from my hand and what I can get calls from. Once you've got that in your head, you can plan which streets you want to check and which to bet.

So on this board, your Q is likely good, but you're only likely to get one street of value. The sort of hands that might call you are worse Qx or hero calls with underpairs. With those sorts of hands, you're more likely to get looked up if the turn checks through so I'd just wait to bet until then.

I don't think pre is standard at all, were loosing $$ by calling guaranteed. If we were in the bb then calling is fine but from sb this is a fold. I prefer check turn and bet river line with such a dry board

Man, my game has evolved so much in a short time - now I would never call this in the SB.

should have fold from the SB, BB its a call imo.

As played, just play check call on turn, now its a fold for me on the river.
