$11 Final Table preflop spot

Villian used to grind 2008-10 with around 60k a year in prizes, hasnt been overly active this FT but hasnt been quiet. The rythm of the table felt like he was due for an open here

Id been reasonably active without being crazy and had 3bet folded twice before, neither hand involving villian.

Poker Stars, $10 Buy-in (3,000/6,000 blinds, 600 ante) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 7 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #12975002

Hero (CO): 205,553 (34.3 bb)
BTN: 188,219 (31.4 bb)
SB: 272,725 (45.5 bb)
BB: 124,175 (20.7 bb)
MP1: 182,980 (30.5 bb)
MP2: 109,662 (18.3 bb)
MP3: 395,686 (65.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 7 7
MP1 folds, MP2 raises to 12,600, MP3 folds, Hero?

Is it an easy 3bet/call or flat and evaluate?

Why are we 3bet/calling when we're going to have terrible equity against his 4bet ship range? I hate it.

I don't mind taking flops in position in these spots at all.

7's play fine against his range pre-flop, if you 3bet n get 4bet you're playing the guessing game. Also, the fact he's in the middle of active and quiet his range is kinda narrow.
You might get a call out of the BB, but in most cases you'll be HU in position

flatting is too passive with this effective stack, and this is the perfect guy to 3b/c.

Even though your image shows that you're folding to 4b's. Only having it happen twice isn't enough to really r/c here. I'd rather shove and have someone behind me not get cut with overcards or hands we want to just fold.

we're not shoving because we're crushed by anyone's cold 4b range.

I mean that I'm jamming because I don't expect a light 4b from anyone behind and I don't want to get flatted behind by some stupid **** like KQ and be OOP.

well a bunch of things. We'll only be oop against 1/3 potential flatters. People aren't really flatting our 3b with KQ. Even if they do, MP2 (OR) will often shove over that flat and we'll get a great price to overjam with 27k in dead money from the flatter. If OR folds we'll be hu, usually IP, and we'll have the c-bet against KQ which usually misses.

I agree that we're not expecting a light cold 4b, but that's an argument for 3betting, not shoving... it means we're not stacking off to overpairs.

Re: $11 Final Table preflop spot

Im the only one who would just fold?

He is the second to act with a small stack and seems to have some experience, so I dont think he would open wide enough to 3bet

And I dont like flat either. We are going to fold in a bunch of flops, lose some showdowns if we get there, and we are against a player with a good stack to semibluf a lot or to never fold a decent pair.

27k/c >> Fold > Shove >>>> Call seems right to me.

Although I would probably make it 31kish to make sure he doesn't perceive any fold equity from a 4bet.

Re: $11 Final Table preflop spot

you can 3b too 28.6k looks pretty strong w/ 3 more players after you too act before it hits villain again.

reasons why a call pre-flop can be bad in this spot,
#1 BU, SB, or BB squeeze play. #2 you don't know where you villain is at with his original raise, your folding too any wet texture boards and only hoping to hit a 7 on the flop or maybe a lower board.

3b or fold. and obv if he comes over the top, its a fold based on number of hands played w/ villain.
any 4 bet range crushes you here. and you'll also be at a coinflip @ best. If you had more stats and tendencies on villain it would be a different story w/ flatting here in pos. preflop.
