Why I Can't Wait for Pokerstars & Borgata's Shady Satellite Policy Why I Can't Wait for Pokerstars & Borgata's Shady Satellite Policy

09-11-2014 , 10:02 AM
I played in Sundays GSS#1 High with a $200 entry.

After registering for that, I accidentally* entered a $50 hyper turbo satellite to that same tourney.

I wasn't the only person playing in this satellite who also playing in the target tournament. I won a seat in the satellite. Now Borgata is telling me I can't use the ticket because the target tournament has passed.

Here was their message:

"With regard to your email, we have checked your account and see that GSSS #1 High - $75,000 GTD NLH 6Max was awarded to your account on 07-SEP-14 17:48:07 ET. [Note - target tournament started at 17:00]

We see that you have played this tournament on 07-SEP-2014 16:52:17 ET using $200 Buy-In amount. You did not use this ticket, instead you have used $200 cash.

Hence, this ticket cannot be used in any other tournament as these are specific entries. These entries cannot be encashed and cannot be used in any other tournament."

Pokerstars would never try this BS. This is straight robbery. If they have a non-transfer policy of tickets, why would they allow me to enter the satellite?

I'll never enter a satellite again on Borgata and I can't wait til Pokerstars arrives in New Jersey. Pokerstars has always had great business practices and smart customer service.

*It was accidental because I was trying to register for another satellite which wouldn't let me register, but then clicked on their table popup for this satellite, which put this satellite register button in the exact same place. Then I tried to unregister via live chat but they wouldn't let me because it was 11 minutes until tourney start, and they only let you unregister 15 minutes out

This is absurd.

I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record but do this:

If You have any complaints, claims or disputes with regard to any outcome regarding the Services or any other activity, You must submit Your complaint to Us in writing as soon as is reasonably practicable following the date of the original transaction to which the claim or dispute refers. Complaints may be submitted by email to formalcomplaint@borgatapoker.com ... To the extent that You are not satisfied with Our response You may contact:
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement at http://www.nj.gov/oag/ge/index.html.

I agree that it's absurd.

I'll assume the best - that the poker playing management for Borgata online poker didn't realize this major flaw in their policy, and that once they realize this policy is severely flawed, and it is a major deterrent for people to enter satellites, that they will change their policy.

Hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.

Just copy the complaints you sent to support and paste them in an email to the official complaint email. It's the first step in the only way the players can hold the sites accountable. Part of the reason things are still so messed up is the sites know that nobody does this - keeping the DGE happy is way more important than the players. The system is set up to protect both sides.

Really don't understand why so any players, after clearly getting upset about the way they were treated, when presented with the info on how to actually hold the site accountable, end up taking the "eh, think I'll just not do that"

May have misinterpreted op, but even so, it's the majority of posters from NJ

I got into a heated argument with a rep because I went to register for GSSS #6 High Rebuy with a ticket I won, instead I clicked cash entry!! After speaking with the rep, they said they are fairly sure we will get tournament dollars after the series is over for unused tickets.

I did email Borgata with my concerns immediately after I was aware of this issue. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me on resolution.

A response saying "we may award value for those tickets after the series" is not an answer I'm okay with.

I was not aware of the specific Borgata complaints email address, but I had always planned to notify New Jersey Gaming if they thought they had the right to take the value of my ticket and keep it for themselves.

I made this thread because I wanted New Jersey poker players to be aware of the way Borgata was treating it's online players.

"Fairly Sure". You are accepting the word of a customer service rep that takes care of ROW and NJ from probably India? They have no clue on what is going to happen after the Series. They have a hard time understanding the Series.

"we may award value for those tickets after the series". Red Flag.

What you have found is the same that has happened for 10 months - no decision maker in the customer service building.

I agree with you 100%. Signing up for the high rebuy satellite was a mistake, with my bankroll a $45 add on was expensive but I decided to play ONLY because no one was 100% certain weather I would get T$ for unused tickets or not. I decided to play because I didn't want a $50 ticket to go to waste.

If they would of said yes about tickets becoming T$ I wouldn't of registered for the tournament to begin with. That's why I got so pissed off. And I told the rep too, I said get your heads out of your asses, the series is half way over and no one has a clue whats going on. I straight up told them stars is a few weeks away and you're going to wish you catered to your customers a bit better.

And for the people who have unused tickets, did they disappear from your "tickets" tab? Mine did and I hope that wasn't because I entered the tournament with cash instead of the ticket. God I still can't get over how stupid I was.. Why would they even let you buy in for cash when you have specific tickets that you can ONLY use for that specific tournament??

Why would they even allow you to unregister if the ticket becomes worthless?

You don't understand, contacting the DGE directly without making formal complaint to official address would not accomplish anything. You have to send Thu e email to official address, wait 3 or 5 days (can't remember) for response, and only then will the DGE even consider you're issue.

However, the complaint wil go to people who actually have the authority to fix problems, and they will. They do not want the DGE to get involved.

They also understand that as long as the official complaint inbox stays empty they have absolutely nothing to worry about regarding DGE.

We shouldnt abuse it obviously, but once it's obv CS starts the run around, just fire an email to the address - I think many would be surprised at how effective it is.

check the filter option in the tix area. top right after you click on tix. click inactive (i think) tix. they will be there but shaded out.

i highly doubt PP would change their unused Tourney series tix policy. unused tourney series tix = t$. always have anyway. If they want to screw players fine...but with pokerstars coming i would think they would tread lightly.

from Borg support:

"I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I would like to confirm that for now your GSSS #9 High - $20,000 GTD NLH 6Max will be converted to tournament dollars once the promotional period ends - after the 21st of September.

If that is going to change, we will contact you with further confirmation."

I'll accept this ..."for now"...

They are letting the door open to rescind the solution? How is this good customer service? Where are the decision makers? It isn't over when they make the decision?

Granted, every thing may be fine. It is the communication that is always hazy when you deal with the NON-NEW JERSEY customer service staff of Party/Borgata.

BTW this was also brought up in the PokerStars dinner player meeting. Poker Stars is going to have a NJ only support staff for NJ issues only

They also told me my ticket would have 'value' after the GSS ended. I still think this is an unfair policy. They let me earn a ticket, which belongs solely to me, and they are telling me I'll get to use it on their timeline in the way that they want me to use. 100% bogus.

I can't wait for Pokerstars.
