Forgive me, I may sound like I'm ranting a bit, but whatever.

With my new interest in Poker/Online Poker, i thought Party Poker NJ would be great. Boy, was I wrong.

Now, I'll start by saying that this is not any fault of Party Poker, but a fault with my internet provider.

I live in the Northwestern part of NJ, Passaic County. My provider is Cablevision/Optimum Online. I signed up for Party Poker, and kept getting the message saying that my location cannot be verified. Found out that WiFi was needed, whatever. Pulled out my laptop, tried to login and got the same message.

I emailed Party Poker a few times, with no response. I tried resetting my router, no luck.

I came to find out that the area that's provided internet/cable in our area comes from NY. There's no alternative internet provider for where I live either. So, the only way I'd ever be able to play is if I moved to a different part of town (which is not happening). Or, online gambling becomes legal in NY

Now, I just got frustrated and said '**** it', but is there any other way to verify that I'm from NJ other than that location verification?

Sorry, long rant. TL;DR: The main station for our internet comes from NY and I'll never be able to play online poker, ever.

From what I understood when I called support last night is that they are in the process of setting up a mobile sms service to track your location. I have no idea when they plan to launch it, from reading other threads it was supposed to be 12/5.

I am even more frustrated as you...my provider is in NJ, I am on wifi, and i have their stupid plugin and still can't play.

i believe it's also possible to call your isp and ask them to either assign you a new ip address (ask for a nj one).

Trust me, I've tried. Basically where I am in location, has to fall within the Warwick, NY station. There's nothing that could be done, unfortunately. I hope they roll out the SMS verification soon. This is bull****, really. My mailing address, and license are both in NJ.
