The verification using SMS is planned to start by Dec 5,2013. However you would still need an enabled Wi-Fi.
You can continue to use your LAN ethernet connection, simply install a Wi-Fi adapter and enable it.

The SMS location is great news. I have WIFI and still cannot get proper geolocation verification from PPoker as of now. Will the SMS fix this problem?

Is this still on track to start today?

I have a desktop, hardwired connection to xfinity internet, also connected to my wireless network from the same router. There are always 2-4 wireless networks in range. I'm in Maple Shade, NJ.

I'm always able to log in IF i go to my wireless network listings and click the refresh button. However, if I don't click the refresh button every 1 minute or so, the list of available wireless networks goes blank.

I frequently get kicked off in the middle of playing, and have lost some good money because of it. I can always log back on pretty quickly by closing the SW, clicking refresh networks, and logging in again. But, I lose my spots at all cash tables, even if I just finished paying the blinds. It takes awhile to load up tournaments i'm in, I usually fold for like 3-4 hands to finish the process. If i'm playing HU in a tournament, they go through like 15-20 hands of stealing my blinds until I can get back on. In other words, it can be a big problem.

My USB wireless adapter is a ZyXEL G-220 v2. Any ideas how I can keep it constantly refreshed? Would getting a new wireless adapter fix my problem?

Is there any way to have the SW recheck my location without having to shut the software down? Then I wouldn't lose all my cash tables, and it wouldn't take near as long to reconnect.

I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps others shortcut frustration. I wanted to play on desktop in NJ (not near any border). IP solidly in NJ. I have a wireless router but learned I have to get a wireless adapter..OK.
Had some bad luck in that my PC wouldn't see the wireless adapter, finally got through that.
See my signal fine and 1 of the neighbors, but I'm somewhat rural. Can't geolocate, saying outside NJ no matter how I connect.
Attach ANOTHER wireless router to the wireless router.
I now have two wireless routers and my AT&T MCell signal booster all up in my grill.
Happy to say I can connect now, but haven't yet started playing. I'm also thinking about regular brain cancer screenings.

Hope this helps.

I went to NJ yesterday and tried playing in a starbuck. I could not. If i connect thru my phone it does not work either.

In either case i was connected via wifi and had a NJ ip address.

Playing on ipad or iphone is also not possible (on WSOP).

I have accounts and money on both WSOP and borgata and the behavior is the same.

WTF: how hard is it to check if one is connected via wifi to a NJ ip address and why is this never working.

Someone should sue the the regulator for letting this happen, especially when people are losing money and get disconnected in the middle of hands.

Kicked out of the 100 tourney twice so far tonight.

Weird thing for me is that it's been worse the last 2-3 days. Over the weekend I played for probably 20 hours and got booted once or twice...this week I am getting booted every 15 min.

Actually gotta call you out on this, bc imo it's the one thing they've done right: they let you finish the hand so you don't ever get booted mid-hand due to location.

I haven't had problems until tonight. I have many wifi signals in my area. Booted 3 times tonight in an hour. I already did the sms thing when I started. So I doubt that will make everything OK.

I'm sitting in the damn borgata poker room and it's saying I'm not in New Jersey.

Kicked 22 times tonight during tournaments (yes I counted), was nice to finally get back in and see myself fold AA on the SB....So tired of this BS. Also, I emailed support 2 days ago about the same situation, no response naturally. I am going to start documenting this everyday for the upcoming class action.

What router is everyone using?

At my office I have netgear and its fine, At home i have the linksys and it is a constant problem.

If you still have location issues it might be good to just play cash games and not tournaments. At least it always lets you finish the current hand before sitting you out

yo what's up with this location ****.

i've played every day for 5 days literally have not had a location issue once

and tonight i've been booted like 20 times. literally nothing has changed with my setup here

I'm using Netgear - N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router. Not 1 problem until today.

locations issues certainly have nothign to do with the brand of router you have

Possible solution: I just realized that having my web browser open (I use firefox nightly fwiw) prevents me from being incorrectly located. If I don't have it open I'm booted every 15min. With it open I rarely (if ever) am booted.

Trying to be a loyal supporter of this but it's impossible at the moment.

(a) Location verification is just not ready for prime time. This is not rocket science and really the regulator should have held up the launch rather than go out with a major requirement not met.

(b) You may not be kicked out mid hand but you certainly are kicked out mid tournament, which is what I mostly play, and you lose your buyin. I have yet to see if the provider will refund a tournament entry.

(c) The live support button is a joke, just sends you to the web page when it should open a chat window with live support.

(d) Telephone support, like much of it these days, is specifically designed to be unusable, so that you will be forced to cheaper support channels like email. There are only 387 players, for goodness sake, and statistics says that does not provide a load on a call centre which gives you a - so far - 20 minute hold. So either the wait is quite deliberate, and btw you can configure it in most call centre software, or there are one or at most two operators available in the middle of the working day.

So far this is making the site unusable.

Any official responses to above, I wonder?

The verification using SMS is planned to start by Dec 5,2013. However you would still need an enabled Wi-Fi.
You can continue to use your LAN ethernet connection, simply install a Wi-Fi adapter and enable it.

How do we enroll in this?

I would really like you to start using SMS to verify where I am. I live in a neighborhood where my closest neighbors are about a 75 yards away and I can't pick up their wifi. I play for about 15 mins and get booted everytime. This is a complete waste of time.
12-14-2013 , 10:21 AM
I also live in a rural area and rely on my neighbors wifi to stay connected? I was playing all week and now all of a sudden their wifi connection is gone. Does this mean I am out of luck because their wifi has been removed or disappeared for whatever reason? Is there any work around for this?
