Hard to see how she sees that as encouraging her to send more. This girl doesn't seem all that entertaining.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

well, she did have a brain injury like 5 years ago so I'm thinking either that, or she's not super duper attracted to me and is just keeping me around for backup. Or maybe none of that and she's just legit weird.

It's strange though, I've never seen anything like this. I'm not going to text her unless she texts me, I'm pretty over it. Waste of a few days for sure.

Sounds like you're at the point now where you should just ask her if she wants to bang and move on if it's no.

Make dumb pussy jokes if she keeps sending you pictures of her cat.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

I figured it out, she's religious. Sent me a bunch of pics from church this week. Last week I didn't think anything of it because it was easter.

Still sending me multiple cat pics a day but it's through snapchat. I don't respond to most of them.

Have a big math test tomorrow, kind of procrastinated studying for it but I got a solid 3 hours in last night, 4 hours the day before, and today studied for about 6. I'm gonna study a few hours before bed and then hit it in the morning before the test at 11.

The material isn't hard, most of the test is on discrete distributions and expectation/variance/standard deviation, simple problems. The one tricky bit I found confusing for a minute were the moment generating functions, but I understand now how they are derived and how they can be used. I forgot how to take the derivative of things so I had to brush up on that today but I got the hang of it.

If you would've told me 5 years ago I'd be getting paid to sit around all day and smoke and do math I would've told you you were insane. I was procrastinating on this because I thought it was hard and I wasn't paying attention but it's been kind of fun.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

I don't know about that, but the whole thing is bizarre. Makes more sense now.

I don't understand she gets out of snapchatting me - I guess there are some people that just send mass snaps to their whole friends lists, but some seem more specific. And the people that do that tend to just take their snapchat story and also send it to people who they know don't look at stories (which i learned is very gauche in snapchat culture btw) and she doesn't do that.

Snapchat, btw, went from one of my most hated and misunderstood apps to my preferred method of flirting/texting/communication. It's less casual than a text, it's perfect. I can ignore all of the things she's sending me and it's not really seen as rude, a snap does not warrant a response. It's the embodiment of our ****ty and shallow culture and I really like it more than I should. I mostly just take pictures of Stella, she's become extremely popular. I'll get like 2-3 girls messaging me every time I take a cute pic of her.

At this rate I'll be using instagram for stuff other than creeping on hot girls I have no chance with

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

Lol that's not nice.

I think I did well on my math test. Realized I may have goofed on the bounds of a subquestion, i think i did x < 6 and i should have put less than or equal or something like that. but other than that, i'm pretty confident most of what I wrote down was good. Not too hard and he ripped most of the questions from the review problems in the back of the book, which I practiced yesterday. I noticed a few trick questions which usually means I nailed it if they dont catch me offguard.

I hear the class gets a lot harder but i'm not intimidated. Actually I think the more abstract it gets the better off i'll be. My interest in this subject has been invigorated, hopefully that energy will carry over into my other class.

Some girl I hadnt hooked up with in like a year hit me up today for some afternoon delight right before i went to work. That was pretty random and weird but it was good, maybe things are turning around in that department finally

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

I was talking to this goofy kid I work with last night that's really into meditation and music and stuff. He told me about how he gets a similar feeling from meditation as when he is really into playing music, and I realized I get that same feeling when I do math. This is the last math course I am going to take, and when it's done, I may continue studying on my own.

Not sure what area to go off into, I think I may finish my calculus book and then try to finish the harder subjects of my differential equations book, and then from there idk. maybe try to check out some number theory.

it's one of the few things that give me peace. I wish I had majored in math instead.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

It's a little too late. I'm only a few classes away from graduating. At this point it would be considering a second major or a minor and I think I'm a little too burnt up for more school

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

Your class sounds a lot like my mathematical stats class, chill until right after mgfs then it was nuts - average for the final was <30% (scaled up for grading). It's good that you're not intimindated though

Man, if you really feel that way about math, it would be such a shame to not do more. Given that you seem to like the abstract more than applied, for self study I'd definitely recommend something like real analysis over differential equations. Almost entirely abstract, you get a much deeper understanding of the calculus you've already learnt, it opens more doors for further study (so many fields require some analysis, afaik fewer require diff eqns), and you get some cool set theory which you probably haven't seen before (and set theory is obviously highly fundamental to math). Number theory would be cool too, wish I had room for that in my major

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

Yea today got a little heavier, we were using the gamma function which I've always been a little irrationally scared of, did a proof involving integration by parts which I definitely need to brush up on.

real analysis sounds interesting. we've brushed on set theory in a few classes, but very very basic stuff

the only thing I really worry about is finding cheap books to go through. I know a lot of high level math books don't even come with exercises in them, much less an answer key. Then knowing what books to buy will be a little challenging too, and if I figure that out I can try to buy used versions that are a few editions out of print, those are usually heavily discounted.

What I'll probably do this summer is burn through my stewart calculus book, which is my favorite book, and learn all the multivariable calculus I've avoided for the last few years. Then my linear algebra book, because we didn't get as far as the professor wanted, and it seemed really, really interesting where the course was going. By far my most favorite class I've taken. I really like this stats class so far though.

My reason for wanting to dive into DE's is I have a weird affinity for them, they come really easy to me for some reason, and partial differential equations I've read a little about and those interest me quite a bit. It's kind of a terminating subject though I think.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

I hope I don't sound too arrogant thinking i can teach myself this stuff, but I am sort of an autodidact, and figure if I get too lost there are numerous math forums out there, and if I get really really desperate I'll just hit up an old math professor I was close with.

I can't remember if it was you smokey that recommended in my linear algebra class to try to work through all the proofs on my own, that's a habit I've formed that stuck with me, and it comes out all the time in weird ways. the other day when I was working through the stats homework I accidentally derived baye's theorem to solve a problem I was stuck on and hadn't read that section yet.

I didn't prove it, but when I saw the theorem/solution I got a huge kick out of it. It's little moments like that where I get a lot of joy that i wish i found in computer science, but I just don't.

This is also hard stuff to talk about with anyone I know, which is part of the reason I miss kate, she loved talking about math

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

Yeah if you're autodidactic enough and really enjoy the process then learning math by yourself is doable - personally I don't quite enjoy it enough to go through the amount of rigour and frustration involved, I need the pressure of grades to make myself spend ~10 hours a week on top of lectures/tutorials (per math subject omg) doing homework proofs. Good stuff re: proving everything as you go along! Great that you turned it into a habit

Oh and yeah, if your stats class is anything like mine you'll definitely be doing a fair bit of integration from here on out - we had to do a lot of double integrals (finding the pdf of a function of random variables, for example), and integrals that seem impossible until you figure out some sneaky tricks specific to working with probability distributions.

Re: Jmakinmeangry's debauchery and general idiocy blog

well the cougar just called me, which is super unusual, and said she wanted to tell me she met someone so we can't hook up anymore.

it's been like a year off and on. it's been weird at times, and a little uncomfortable when she was hitting me up a lot, but it's been a nice, no strings kind of thing and the last year has been really hard for me dating wise. she just met the guy so who knows if it'll work out but she said if it doesn't she'll definitely contact me.

it just feels ****ty on my self esteem. the other girl i was hooking up with doesn't want to hang out anymore because she met some guy in europe. there's literally no one right now. i haven't been this alone in a really long time. not even any prospects whatsoever, and i have no reason to believe that's going to change any time soon.

was gonna console myself by watching some house, but even that's off netflix now and apparently VPN's don't work anymore so FML

Just download it.

I remember my days of banging women that I had no intention of keeping around or just weren't compatible with.

Just hop back on the saddle lookin for the next "Miss Right Now." imo

Def shouldn't let that kind of stuff get you down.

Yea I know that's good advice, my confidence has just been garbage lately and this hasn't been helping.

I have an appointment with a therapist finally on Tuesday. She seems really nice and we hit it off over the phone. I'm optimistic about it.

I got a 90% on that stats test too
