Well it wasn't a completely serious post as France is overall obviously going to be a safer place for a french man to live than traveling all over South East Asia by himself is.

That being said France does seem to be the epicenter of Isis's attacks in Europe. They've now attacked France twice. So thus far it's had that much the worse of it than other European countries.

he didn't die, but after coming home he thought back on his experiences and made the smart decision to stay in france and live a real life instead of selfishly staying on some endless vacation

Whats your definition of a real life? Grinding some 9 to 5 job, paying taxes and saving for retirement? Maybe get a gf, marry than get children?

yeah work in your community, get a job that pays you money, make friends and talk to them in your natural language. it's a great way to live don't be different just to be different, psychonication knows he's not steve jobs coming up with the iphone in india he was sightseeing and enjoying a much needed vacation and it's enough already.
