I don't really want to start a pg&c because I don't have a 'IMA make a milly playing poker' goal. This is perfect. ITT I will talk about the pokers, paleo, school, dog training, maybe some fam stuff, and whatever else I can think about. Basically this APD's LLSNL Chat Thread. Here we go:

Played a friendly tournament last night. $10 BI. So not enough to really interest me. Was really going to hang out with some people. I was super tired. Low BI + Super tired= recipe for disaster. I pretty much tried to be in every pot and my tiredness convinced me it was +EV. I bust of course. Donkaments suck in general. Tired donkaments suck a bunch.

My buddy was on the other side of town playing in the 1/2 game. He came up nice and was texting me chip pr0n pics. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. He was sitting on 550bb's. He kept trying to get me over there. I was like, "nah, bruh. Way to tired. I'd be giving it away." Just like I gave that lil $10 away. Meh.

Ran a 2k mudder yesterday with my fam. Had a ton of fun. Before we went I weighed myself and I was down 8lbs since starting Paleo 3 weeks ago. I have not been exercising at all. Just eating better. Not even doing this diet for weight loss, rather I am trying to keep any possibility of the beetus away as long as I can. That ish runs in my family and I ain't about that giving myself a shot life. Eff that!

So anyways, the mudder. We get to this huge waterslide that drops into mud. This lady who is like late 50's and way overweight gets up there. When she hits the bottom she trys to land on her feet. She must of stuck hard into the mud and her weight flung her forward. Snapped her damn leg or ankle. Was so gross. I hate looking at that stuff, but I couldn't stop looking. I think I have a phobia of that stuff from when I was little. This lady was hanging off her 2nd story balcony (I think she was drugged up) and I started yelling to my dad. He came running out to help but she fell, landed on her feet and snapped that thing in half. Bone was sticking out and eeerything. Blah!

So ya^ Those are my last few days. Im at the work today doing some OT. Getting like 5 days of OT in the next month and a half. Gonna be some good paychecks.

Tomorrow if softball is cancelled due to rain IMA go train with my dog. We have an Obedience trial coming up and we need to get back in the ring.

On the real, anytime I eat sugary crap now I get way dizzy and sick. Once you are on the Paleo it's hard to eat anything bad. As appetizing as certain things look I need to stay away from them. This feeling sucks! Oh and fuuuuuuu girl scouts with your delicious little cookies.

You know, I keep running into that. I guess because I stay up on current nutrition (even when I am off of it) I always assume its common sense, but really its not. I have met a bunch of people who do not know what it is.

Thanks for linking that for me.

When I am preparing for a fight and coming down the stretch, especially when having to cut weight, the diet mine most resembles is paleo. Of course after the match it's all about pizza and pudding pops , but definitely closer to paleo before.

Today I hope softball gets cancelled so I can go train with the dog. Of course every time I want it to be cancelled, it runs.

My daughter is at my moms all week, I was thinking about putting in a sesh tonight. The Monday game is always a good one.

I will go into that tomorrow when I can focus on it.

I played a little sesh tonight and came up decently.

Funny story: I go to the ATM to pull out some money. ATM is all GTFOH you can't withdrawal that much. So I keep lowering the number and it still doesn't work. Call my wife to see if she used the ATM and she said no (withdrawal limits). So I try again and type in $150. Bingo. All $5's... WTF?? So I do $150 again... Bam... But all $5's again. Lmao. Get some more $5's and Im on my way. Guess the ATM was all out of $20's. So I bring a huge pile of $5's to the game FTW!

Paleo:

So why am I doing paleo? I have a family history of diabetes (the beetus) and recently I had noticed how sugar (junk food) had been affecting me. I would get what some call a 'sugar high'. Basically I would get dizzy and some times nauseous. It scared me, I won't lie. I honestly do not think I can stick myself with a needle, which is what my mom and grandma do. I think eventually I will get the beetus, but if I can prolong it I will be a happy camper. I also don't want my daughter going through that stuff. Kids eat so bad in this country. I have her eating healthier also. I let her get away with more cheat stuff because I don't want her whole childhood to be nit life. FWIW, we have a friend who is like level 100 beetus. Her doctor told her to start eating paleo, even though he didn't use the term paleo. It helps to regulate blood sugar.

The other reason was I knew I needed to lose some weight. I have played sports all my life and getting into this "old" age with this weight on my back and knees isn't helping. I want to be active for a long time. Weight loss is not my first priority though. As awesome as it is watching the weight disappear, health is my number one. I am now down 9 lbs. I played softball last night and made some plays that I used to make all the time in the OF, but couldn't make even a month ago. Fast as F_ _ _ plays. I'm not trying to look like a super model and have ripped abs. I don't have time for that.

So paleo is basically eat all the good stuff that supposedly our ancestors ate. No dairy, grains, legumes, and processed crap. I don't know all the science behind it, I mean I get what they are saying, but I don't know if it's true, false, fad, or w/e. What I do know is that it is a real easy lifestyle to follow. I can still eat out, I just choose my foods more wisely. Grab like a palm size amount of meat (1/3 plate), 2/3 fresh veggies, then fill the rest with fruits and good fats (nuts, almonds, avocado, etc). Just eat every meal like that. Eat eggs and bacon for breakfast. It's all good.

I actually subscribed to a website (it will not be posted here, but they are easy to find on google) that meal plans for me. They give me a new menu and shopping list every week. All the recipes are on their website. It is really simple and I have been enjoying the foods a ton. My body is really enjoying all the fresh ingredients and flavors. I eat junk food and I don't really enjoy the taste. I used to eat the hell out of Funyuns and drink Mt. Dew. I had a small bad and a Dew last week on a cheat day... I couldn't finish it. The Dew tasted like crap and Funyuns were meh. I ended up throwing it out. Last night at poker I drank water and ate a Paleo trail mix that had cashews, almonds, blueberries, pumpkin seeds and a few other things. Everyone around me is getting down on chips, candy, soda, and chicken cacciatore. Except for the cacciatore, nothing else really looked that good. I had lamp patties, avocade, tomatoes and a dijon carrots before I played. Very appetizing.

Is paleo right for everyone? I think it is. I also think that any balanced diet that cuts out all the junk is good. Always do what works for you. My thing is I am a carnivore. I love to BBQ and get down on food. Most diets tell you to eat lean this and lean that. Paleo allowed me to keep my lifestyle with just a few simple tweaks. I can still throw a 20lb pork butt on the smoker and enjoy it with some paleo bbq sauce and veggies.

I am really looking forward to the meal tonight. Lime-Cilantro Pork Tacos (although they are really lettuce wraps).

Here is the recipe if anyone else wants to try it. I will give a TR after I finish them!

Ingredients

2 tsp coconut oil
1 lb pork tenderloin, trimmed and cut into 1/4" - 1/2" strips
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 red onion, diced
1 small jalapeno, minced
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 medium tomatoes, diced
3 Tbs lime juice
3 Tbs cilantro, chopped
8 butter lettuce leaves (about 1 large head)
2 avocados, sliced

Instructions

Wash and chop onion, jalapeno, cilantro and tomatoes.
Season both sides of pork with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. When hot, add coconut oil to pan.
Sauté pork until lightly browned, about 4 minutes. Remove pork from pan and place in a bowl.
Add onion and jalapeno to hot pan, and sauté until tender.
Add broth and tomatoes, and reduce heat to low. Simmer two more minutes, scraping pan sides and bottom to loosen any browned bits.
Return pork and juices to pan. Stir in lime juice and simmer until pork is fully cooked.
Top with fresh cilantro and avocado, and wrap with butter lettuce leaves to serve.

I really enjoyed the dinner tonight. I thought the flavor was going to be stronger, but it was light. Still very delicious. My wife did not add the jalapeños which was a bummer. Oh well. I rate that one a 7.5/10 - would eat again.
