go to player notes management in one of the lobby's options menu and put the location you want your notes to go to (c:\program files\pokerstars\ for me)

take note of the timestamp on your notes.xml file

then open a table, apply a note to some random person, close the table, then close the client -- the timestamp should update to when you closed the client (or maybe when you closed the table, either way doesn't matter)

earlier this month i was losing notes too because I was pointing the client to the wrong directory

The problem is your notes.xml file has gotten too large, what you need to do is create a second notes file. Go into the notes file (the xml one) and rename it notes1, then close stars. When you reopen stars it will create a new folder and all of your new notes will be saved.
