river raises

Wondering if I should have raised the turn in the 2nd example? If villain had the Ace then this could have got more out of him?
As the river, perhaps not 3 bet?
Both of these are scary boards for villain and they are not relenting.
In hand 1 I figured vilain for a J.

    Re: river raises

I don't like the cold call in the SB in hand 1, especially in a 1/3 structure. Any hand we're willing to cold call here with I think is better served as a 3-bet to try and fold out BB and take the initiative.

As played, I don't usually C/R this hand on the flop. I don't think we're folding out better very often. Our hand looks exactly like a flush (or better) by the river, so if villain is competent he should only be raising houses here and I think we should just call.

Hand 2, I like the flop Ch/C. Again, I don't think we fold out better very often (I would C/R Q hi FD's here though). If we want we can C/R bluff some turns with this hand. As played, please C/R the turn, there's tons of value to be had and our hand is very disguised on a turn we could be bluffing often.

Also, Ch/Calling the turn, then donking the river makes no sense. The main reason to not C/R the turn is because we think villain will bluff a huge amount on the river. Donking completely lets him off the hook for this and makes our turn Ch/C even worse.

Your problems in hand one start with CC'ing pf. By splitting your range pre, you're making it much easier for him to narrow down what you have post and play better.

The turn in hand two is not good. The range you're representing with the flop c/c hits that card hard. Villain is showing significant strength by betting it. Creating a situation where you might only get two bets out of Ax here is highly -ev.
