hey, just checking if flop call is good and what you do on river.

vilain pretty much unknown ( i will get there soon to play with a HUD...)

[converted_hand][hand_history]Poker Stars, $0.50/$1 Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #35294041

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9 A
MP folds, CO raises, 2 folds, Hero calls

i never 3 bet pf unless vs maniac

Flop: (4.5 SB) Q 7 J (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls

the call might be thin here but i figure my hand was a bit too strong to fold because:
- i can still be ahead (tho reverse IO might be there if i hit a good turn card like a pair completing his draws)
- i can have a free card on turn.

My hand might be difficult to turn this weak EV share postflop because the river is far still and being easilly force to fold the turn , maybe better to fold right there on flop but i feel i would fold way too much hands if i fold A9 here ?
Maybe exploitive fold is best here vs STANDARD CO open raisor because it should hit his range pretty hard.

Turn: (3.3 BB) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

great

River: (3.3 BB) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero ?

i think my hand is too weak to bet for thin value ( not many worst hands call here imo)
but to strong to bet has a bluff on river ( maybe i am wrong because worst hands like draws i would of c/r flop).
But betting this hand has a bluff seem wrong, i mean if i would bet for thin value something like a pair of 5,6 or 7 ( 22 and 33 i am not sure on betting those on river for thin value), A9 is not far behind so i decide to check.

well vilain did bet !

The flop is an easy fold... you're not going to be able to call down on all 3 streets. Hitting a 9 is not a good thing, as villain will play almost perfectly against you. Hitting an ace is also not very good... A9 with 3 broadways on board sucks. We don't have a backdoor flush draw. Our hand really sucks.

The river is a tough spot where you really just have to "play poker". As a default, I would call. But this is a spot where you absolutely want a read. Some players almost always stab with air if they have air in this spot. Some players never do. Some players are somewhere in the middle. Anything the player has done that leads me to believe he is tricky/aggressive would make me call. If I have seen signs that villain is passive/straightforward, I am happy to fold.

Thx unguarded.

If we change the 7 with something like a 2 , still a fold ?
Pair of 9 gets a bit better if we hit ?
