on the river
villain is 23/8/0 over 13 hands. no reads. considering how villain plays this hand i'm guessing he's not great at poker.
my question is what to do on the river. i want to raise, but i'm scared.
Merge - $1/$2 (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3
BB: $111.57
UTG: $36.57
MP: $46.96
CO: $220.52
Hero (BTN): $36.49
SB: $50.00
SB posts SB $0.50, BB posts BB $1.00
Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero has J T
fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $2.00, SB calls $1.50, fold
Flop: ($5.00, 2 players) 6 3 9
SB bets $1.00, Hero calls $1.00
Turn: ($7.00, 2 players) T
SB bets $2.00, Hero raises to $4.00, SB raises to $6.00, Hero calls $2.00
River: ($19.00, 2 players) J
SB bets $2.00, Hero...

Re: on the river
Call. r/f isn't much of an option with this little of a read. Thus, we need to be good in the 60-67% area. It's hard to come up with the combos needed to balance out 87/sets here.

Re: on the river
I just call, I wouldnt like to call a 3bet on these river. If your scarred of raising what is your plan is the villain re raise? are you going to call or fold?
given the aggression the villain has shown after his PF cold call I expect him turn have a set or suited cards quite often.

Re: on the river
My initial reaction was to raise/call, but after going through stove its definitely just a call.
I think if the river was the Jc instead of the Jh, we should consider R/C on the river. We now beat all his 6xhh/9xhh combo's he'll B/C on the river with.

Re: on the river
I think villain beats 2 pair here at least 50% of the time , just call river imo

i think vs. an unknown i'd have to call a 3bet, but i would not be loving it.

Jh is a better river card to raise than Jc since his 3bet range will be so much smaller

At 1-2 limit I would not feel comfortable raise folding against a complete unknown, although you will probably be punished less.

Re: on the river
Your options are c, r/c or r/f. Against an unknown, your worst choice is r/f.
I gave him a twopair or better range at turn. Vs. this range you have 62% equity. r/c wouldn't be a big mistake but call seems better. imo;
c > r/c >>> r/f

This may be true, but it completely ignores the fact the 3rd heart on the river hits villain's range and a river raise will have less value to begin with.

Sure it does. As I've already mentioned 6xhh or 9xhh, for example.

Re: on the river
well either way i think we can agree it's a small number of combos relative to his overall range
