Raise flop for freecard on Turn and than hitting second pair

Poker Stars, $0.25/$0.50 Limit Hold'em Cash, 4 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #13537662

Preflop: Hero is CO with 7 A
Hero raises, BTN folds, SB 3-bets, BB folds, Hero calls

Flop: (7 SB) 4 T 2 (2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls

Turn: (5.5 BB) 7 (2 players)
SB checks,

What's the proper line?
b/c? because we get value from unpaired hands?
When we get raised - we gonna call down, if the board doesn't improve? Except the opponent is too weak tight?

Re: Raise flop for freecard on Turn and than hitting second pair

A turn value bet looks good. Unless Villain has an extremely narrow preflop 3-betting range versus a CO steal, you should usually have the best hand here, and a nut-flush draw backup to go with it.

That said, getting checkraised would kind of suck. Probably I would call down against an unknown since middle-pair, top kicker is a good hand in a heads-up steal. Plus, we'll be getting about 10:1. (Still, there are some straightforward players who will pretty much always have second pair beat when they checkraise the turn.)

Almost gin card on turn, easy value bet.

Not many will c/r turn as a bluff there, should be able to fold river.

Yup, easy value bet on the turn. We have a ton of value against his Ace Hi & K hi type hands. If we are C/R on the turn I would probably fold a blank river. Its hard for him to have a bluff here when we have the nut flush draw. He can realistically only be bluffing with KQ/KJ/QJcc unless he's really aggressive with his 3-betting.

I don't really like the FSDR on the flop. I guess its ok if we don't expect villain to 3-bet us immediately with his big hands. My default would be call twice and fold a lot on the river if we haven't improved.

Re: Raise flop for freecard on Turn and than hitting second pair

I normally bet even without the pair because I like to be aggressive as possible at 6max and if we are going to bet a turn it might as well be when it's as a semi-bluff. We can then punch the air if he folds, call if he raises and I guess check-behind unimproved on river.

If the opponent will rarely fold turn after calling flop then checking behind might be okay but with the pair might as well bet it every time to keep up aggressive image.

i don't raise the flop, we have too much showdown value. raising the flop removes this hand from our bluffcatching range. >.<
as played I bet the turn for value, he probably b/3! the flop often so his b/c range is most likely unbalanced and overcard heavy.
