you have a tight player raising UTG an ace on the flop and you donk did you not guess what was going to happen?
Oh boy, I see that I opened up a hornet's nest. Nah, I know it sucks. At the time I thought (clearly wasn't thinking hard enough) that a bet would disguise the fact that I was holding a 7 (because most players slowplay trips to death). I guess that it did, since I was able to check-raise UTG on the turn, but I may have been able to trap a bunch of people on the flop with a check/raise. All of this is very obvious, but clearly my surprise at having hit trips clouded my vision at the time.
sorry didn't mean to pile on

John Feeney in his book has a hand where he plays trips in a similarly unusual isolating fashion to disguise his hand vs. a good player except he checkraises the pfr on his right rather than donking into the pfr on his left...just fwiw...
C/R is still probably almost always better though @5/10....

I think the donk is not that awful if you are going to bet/3bet the turn.

I lost 200 BB today holla.

This brightened up my week let me know I'm not the only one who swings rediculously. I moved up to 10-20 this week played 5k hands, 9k hands, 6 k hands and today 3k each day early on i was down over 100 bets and stuck for most the nite. Im down about 350-400 BB for the week only about 40 % of my roll and ready to kill somebody. But i got me 160k pokerstars points and gonna conceirge that (censored).

Same here. You're not alone. 4500 hands and 350 BB lighter, I'm also quite ready to throw in the towel. All I can think of all the time is the word "ridiculous".

It's all about focus. When I lost 200 BB I wasn't playing well near the end. I should have given up for the day after I lost the first 60 bets, but I fired it up again at night and spiraled out of control for another 140 bets. I was probably playing -2 bb/100 poker.

Something important for everyone is to not let your longest sessions be the ones where you start out losing. That's the general trend for me. If I'm up 100 bets after 1k hands, I'll be a lot more encouraged to call it a day as opposed to being down 100 bets after 1k hands. It's dumb, though.

PokerStars 5/10 Hold'em (5 handed) internettexasholdem.com

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, 2.
3 folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (2 SB) 6, Q, 8 (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (2 BB) 2 (2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, Hero calls.

River: (8 BB) 7 (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 10 BB

Results in white below:
SB has 2h 2d (three of a kind, twos).
Hero has Qd 2s (two pair, queens and twos).
Outcome: SB wins 10 BB.

Yeah, I know, I'm sure I made some big mistakes. I actually know about some. But still, I ran -8 BB/100, with reasonable stats only a W$SD of 43%...that's just running horribly.

Yeah I ran at -11 bb/100 for 1800 hands the other day. My showdown stats were like 32/48 -> owned. Just saying that on top of that, I didn't play some hands very well.

I am convinced the rake at 5/10 can't be overcome. I have ~125K hands there this year with a extremly small winrate. I am now trying to robusto it at 10/20.

Its a function of table selection - trouble is finding enough good tables while trying to hit Elite.

Helps that you've moved up. I recommend the same to Miles and the rest of ya.
