This forum has helped me a lot in the past two years, but if someone doesn't want to play poker well, they're not going to play poker well. There are huge misconceptions about what makes a fish a fish. It's not because they're stupid, mentally damaged, or breathe from their mouths. It's simply because they don't wish to play well. They want to gamble. When good players play bad, that's another thing entirely. But when we're talking about bonafide assets to the game, reading a few books, watching a video, or reading some forum posts isn't going to change a thing.
False.
Fish often think they're playing well. Or to paraphrase everyone's favorite movie "thinking it's just like their home game, how could this be any different." Someone might wanna try to google their SN one time. For fun. It's not necessarily an effort to get better. Discovers forum. Decides to start learning about the game more.
I know people, friends that I've tried to help get better, usually by telling them to read the forum. They lurk a little but refuse to study/read stuff on here
thinking they know better or just generally aren't used to forums. They read some books, and aren't terrible players, but they aren't gonna elevate their game.
I know that sounds like I'm agreeing with you, BUT that superiority feeling (that the forum is useless) goes away with more exposure to it. I don't really want to expose them more.
The forum isn't really as well known as you think, especially among casual players. There's no reason to educate them.
