It's possible that leading the turn or bet-3-betting the river get more value against your opponent's range, but against the hand he actually held it looks like you won the maximum. And without a read + timing tells, an observer can't accurately put this guy on a range.
Ok saying "capping the turn would have been spewtastic" so it's still a trifecta is like saying bet/3betting gets you the most value and so it's still a trifecta.
A trifecta isn't about playing a hand optimally, and indeed it's probably often the wrong play... that's what makes it special. You have to have a great read on your villain, and playing the type of fish that you can pull it off on. That's what gives it lols value. Like "he was so bad I even pulled a trifecta on him."
Some people will bet/raise at any oppurtunity, nothingbeatsrock comes to mind. A trifecta is a status symbol or whatever. A camry is the best car for the money, but a BMW makes you baller.
