Dude, u should seriously never ever even think about this with poker. No matter how bad things may seem, its obviously -EV. If you get this tilted from downswings etc (i know you had gf drama too but still), you probably should find another career. Maybe use some of your SNE money to invest in seeing a therapist. Suicide should never even enter your thinking. It is like mucking before the cards are out.
lol ok

but yes downswings can be verrrrrrrrrry tilting

exactly -- basically, it's easy to see a 500k breakeven or a massive downswing as constant failure, regardless of whether or not that's technically true
12-10-2010 , 07:00 PM
but when you're saying breakeven, that doesn't include SNE rakeback, right? Breaking even for the entire year leads to a pretty sweet annual salary.

I don't think it is. I think even busto fish know that poker is just poker and money is just money. It is not worth a human life.

@ the bolded -- It's not? I think it can be, sometimes.

I'm sure there are plenty of fish (poker and gambling in general) who kill themselves when they just constantly lose, sure. That can happen when you gamble everything and lose, whatcha gonna do?

In any case, consider yourself lucky, not everybody is as zen as you are.

+1

all life +ev,has a family, goes to college, SNE, winner pre RB.

screw you calvin! At least buy one awesome thing. Go buy a tempurpedic bed and tell me if you like it.

My Ikea mattress is pretty worn out after only a year and I paid like $400 for it, pretty gay.

yeah, doesn't apply to breakeven mmt SNE guys, assuming they're fine with being unable to actually beat people at the tables, which they apparently are. Now, if you're previously a solid winning player with a 500k breakeven ...

lol. Our bed is really awesome so I guess we do have one thing that we spent some money on. High thread count sheets, ridiculously comfortable mattress, + amazing down comforter FTW.

Right, I thought we were talking about donjuan who is going to get SNE. Break even seems par for the course (and quite understandable if you are stacking 20 tables!). Being suicidal due to work which has an estimated annual salary of 120k+ seems weird.

Yeah, I was trying to speak generally. I definitely don't think donjuan should be suicidal for making 120k or whatever it is

Proof that SNE grinders know way too much about suicidal ideation ITT.
lol thanks no hard feeling indeed. And I don't want this to turn into some kind of dr phil or anything but the suicide was just a period of depression and I wanted a quick end. I mean making 120k+ is good and all but I felt very empty inside. I would constantly try to chase the high (strip club, partying, buying expensive stuff). the tipping point was when my ex left, I lost a very close friend that I treated like crap for 3 years. Everything when downhill from there. Afterward I would just isolate myself and grind 12+ hour everyday for a month and half.

Anyway enough of self-pity hope everyone ending the year good.

You should PM Boc4life, he lives near Philly and afaik enjoys strip clubs parting and buying expensive things a fair amount

PS

what cool **** did you buy? I'm a materialistic American.
12-11-2010 , 09:02 PM
DonJuan, your 1.7 million hands graph for the year is by far the most impressive graph I've seen. being up .5BB/100 doing that kinda volume at those stakes is absurd and something you should be proud of.
12-11-2010 , 09:12 PM
agreed, winnning 10k bigbets and playing over 1.7M hands in one year is seriously impressive. good job!

Hilarious stuff... gw.aag (I'm sure he knows about 2p2 but whatever) was just playing 16 tables including a hu match at 15/30 vs. Quaternion. Something tells me his SNE rakeback isn't going to soften that ass pounding.
12-11-2010 , 10:10 PM
lol at playing quaternion hu

might as well just transfer him the money

You should get like 40 pillows. Having 40 pillows on a bed shows true class.

At 500K breakeven I would at least physically hurt myself..but I don't think I would even think about killing myself.

I used to be really masochistic and would punch things and drag my fists across concrete and stuff when I had sick losing sessions. But this was when I was immature and 13 or 14 years old. I was probably just lashing out at life in general like a normal teenager.

Now, I'm less stupid. :P
